No picture on screen

The computer will start up fine. It even went to the desktop fine. But then all of a sudden the screen just went black. The computer was still running but just no image on the screen. Any idea what is the problem? Thanks.

I tried what you said but it wasn't that. The screen stayed on as long as I didn't move the computer. I put my left hand on the side of the screen to help lift it up and when I went to lift it up it went black. Any ideas?

If you shine a bright light at the screen, with no external screen connected, and you can see a picture/desktop just around the light source, the ballast unit or flourescent back light maybe faulty. If nothing at all, check out flea bay for a replacement screen.

Toshiba Qosmio F25-AV205 screen keeps going black

If your laptop appears to boot up and the hard disk LEDflashes, then the problem is probably a back light fault. This can be a faultyinverter or a faulty CCFL lamp. Please click on this link and follow myinstructions to identify the fault and possible fix :- http://www.fixya.com/support/r3598095-faulty_laptop_lcd_screen

This morning I tried turning my laptop on and it started fine, it went to the Dell Logo screen, but then it continued on and went to a black page with an error on it. Everything the previous day had gone...

Start and let it boot again and press F8 immediatly and use SAFE MODE to boot,
let the Desktop come up,
once stable shut down and wait for 3 - 4 mins
restart

ASUS VX2-AK008G Video cardNVIDIA GeForce 7700 gone bad after playing a video game. Can it be replaced? Will better model such as GeForce 9500 be compatible replacement model for the notebook?

I have the exact same problem! Never downloaded or did any changes to the software - it just suddenly wouldn't show anything on the screen when starting the machine. Could hear everything just fine, but the screen just went black. I connected it to an LCD flatscreen TV and there I saw Windows appearing, but there were strips/lines across the screen. The computer drive works fine - it's the graphic card. I've read many others having the exact same problem... Any solutions out there yet, anyone?

Acer Aspire 5610. LCD very dim all of a sudden.

That sounds just like an inverter problems. There is a slim chance the bulb could be a problem, but I would replace the inverter. It is not too hard to do, no soldering involved.

You have to remove the screw covers on the frame of the LCD frame, and then carefully pop off the frame. The inverter should be on the bottom center of the screen.

Be careful, there is a high voltage in that little baby. Just get the full numbers, and do a search on the internet and buy yourself a new inverter to replace the old one.

Black Screen

If you have a picture on your desktop and nothing on your external,With external screen plugged in check the output set up on display properties, may need to be set up again.
Once the screens are identified you should be able to save these settings and remember to set the correct screen size or you may experience Black screen syndrome were your video picture should be displayed,if in doubt start at the smallest (800x600) and work from there adjusting to suit the individual requirements.

Don't for get to save before reboot then test,

Try to connect to external monitor and see if you see anything. Of course when you do that you have to hold at the same time fn key and the key that has a blue picture of computer screen.
