Question about Toshiba TDP-S8 Multimedia Projector

Not turning on.

When I push the power button, The yellow standby light goes off for about 2 seconds, then comes back on. Nothing else happens. I am not very familiar with this projector, so I am totally lost. Can someone help me?

When I push the power button, The yellow standby light goes off for about 2 seconds, then comes back on. Nothing else happens. although sometimes the lamp attemps to kick up but then goes out and projector returns to standby mode. If i keep trying EVENTUALLY it comes on.. but this is a pain.. .is seems to me that when I try to power it on the fan might not be spinning up and the the machine keeps itself off to prevent over heating..

I have the same problem. If I press the button I know that I have to wait at least an hour before I try again, then if I'm lucky it will turn on. If I press button it's like going back to square one!

Replaced bulb yesterday worked fine. Today light will not turn on. projector turns on both lights green for 10 seconds, then power goes red and status blinks green for about 5 seconds, then status light...

green green is power on, normal
then it tries to light the lamp, but it can't so the protection circuit comes activated.
you get red and green blinking

Then it goes to standby, red and off.

so something has happened to the lamp, or lamp ballast power supply.
Take the lamp out and check if all is OK with the 2 terminals in the connector, and the leads to the lamp are intact.

Failing that, I would suspect the ballast lamp power unit

I have a nec vt560 and the power light stays orange and the status light is off until buttons are pressed. bottom line is...i cant get the projector to come on...the power light never turns green.

The projector is in standby mode, which is a good sign.
When you press the ON button for "at least 2 seconds or more", what happens.

Do any lights come on at all?

My projector will not power on. I've replaced the cables, the power source, and the bulb but still nothing. The red standby led on the control unit turns blue when power button is pressed but goes right...

The ballast unit has most likely failed. Replace the ballast unit, unless the lamp exploded and in which case, there may be glass fragments stopping a fan from turning.

My projector lamp turn on about 2 then turn off. light bulb haves

the power supply needs to be replaced. if you're good at soldering, there is a capacitor that dries up quickly on the ps board. i believe it's c2.

Same problem as below.

I have the same projector, and had the SAME problem.
After unplugging and taking on a trip it didn't work...it just lit up for 2 secs, and then shut off....

LEAVE it plugged in for as long as it takes for the light to stop blinking, and then it should start up on its own, or if you press the on/standby buton.
Be patient, hope this works for you too!

I have this same problem with no indication of what is wrong with the projector. I have checked the bulb and see no lines (veins) or bubbles on it.

This works on a couple different Toshiba models -- might work on yours...

Make sure the main power switch is OFF. Hold the "ON", "MENU", and "INPUT" buttons at the same time and turn the main power switch on. Keep them held until the yellow power standby light comes on, then let go. It is done.

Won't power off when pressing power button, just goes to standby mode

With most projectors you have to press the power button twice to confirm that you want to turn it off. When you press it the first time it waits for a bit and then turns itself back on assuming you hit the power button on accident.
