Question about Sony 4GB Memory Stick PRO Duo Memory Card

1 Answer

Beeping I recently got a 16GB Memory Stick Pro Duo for my Sony HDR-CX12 Camcorder that I got new for Christmas. It is Sony, Mark 2, With Magic Gate and says it should be fully compatible with my camcorder ( When I insert the Memory Card, an Error appears saying that Videos and Images may not record correctly and makes 8 annoying beeping sounds. It does this at the start up, when you switch camera modes, and when you are looking at your recorded videos or still images. Everything otherwise works fine aside from the annoying beeping sound. Please help if you Can!

The box on the Camcorder says that it supports up to 16GB.

    Thanks for the suggestion though!

call your camcorder manufacturer and inquire for a firmware that supports the memory stick. chances are its not compatible with the camcorder since this handles large memory.\

Hope this help

WHAT memory stick do i use for a DCR-PC9E

You probably need the old-style memory sticks, as this is a fairly old camera, or an adapter. See this article:
Adaptors are cheap : is but one example, there are lots for sale out there or your sony shop may have one.
You may have to check to see if the camera is capable of reading and writing to a card of 4GB size, but as you have already bought it, it's worth a try.
Hope this helps.

My Sony memory stick pro duo magic gate mark 2 is not shows images on pc but in my camera, but the photos are visible on Sony cybershot camera

Some Sony Cybershot camera's have a small amount of memory built into the camera. Double check that the camera is set to put the pictures onto the memory stick.
If the camera is set up correctly, the memory stick may not be formatted correctly for your computer. If at all possible, connect the camera to your computer directly with the USB cable that should have come with it.

How do I "see" the Pro Duo card in the Sony HDR-sr12E Handycam on my PC. Can see the hard disks with photos and videos etc but not the card.

The camera is probably configured to record to harddisk now. Select your Pro Duo memorystick as the record media thru the menu's (select the memory stick icon), and you'll be able to see the stick content.

I have just purchased an hdr-cx105e camcorder. It works fine on the hard drive but i have problems when adding a memory stick. I have tried a 16gb pro-duo just purchased, an 8gb from my sons psp, a 4gb and...

I read the manual in .pdf format off of the site.
It does appear that it's not that hard to do what you did according to the manual, and you tried to use several memory sticks pro duo from Sony.

So, I do not understand why it would give you this error, unless the camcorder is faulty, somehow.

I would take it back to the place you bought it, and ask for an exchange for the same item after explaining what happened to you.

Good luck on this.

"Format error" with sony MHS-CM1 webbie, 16GB produo

There is a firmware update available for your Camcorder at this link Download and follow the site instructions for installing it. The high capacity memory stick PRO is probably beyond the current camera's capacity to recognize and the firmware update should fix it.

PSP can't read my memory stick and LAN light is flashing.

is it just the one movie that wont play or have you tried music and game saves?
a few things to check
1 is the memory card showing magic gate supported
2 check if the card shows 15.?gb with nothing on it
3 try loading the card with 15gb of music and pictures

i bought a 16gb pro duo memory card from ebay that was a 4gb card showing in the psp as 15.4gb but corrupted every thing after 4gb.
if you also find that the card is only taking between 4-8gb of data contact ebay as this is likely a fake card.

Sony CX-12 Camcorder gives message when memory stick inserted

This is a feature and not a defect of the CX-12 that reminds the user that the memory stick inserted might not be able to record the data from the camera effectively. HD video requires a memory stick with a relatively fast data read/write speed, and the CX-12 recommends not using any other stick that is not Mark 2.
Fortunately, though, as you have found out, it does not affect the camera's ability to record in non-Mark 2 sticks.
Hope this helps!
