Yamaha RX V-663 video output into old Coaxial TV

Just got a new RX V-663 AV reviever. My existing TV is a 20 year old Sony with just a coaxial input. How can I get the video from the Yamaha into the Sony. Sound from the DVD player works great with the speaker system I just want to use the TV as a monitor until I can afford to upgrade.

You need a coax to RCA converter. Do a google search, Belkin makes one, Radio Shack probably has one too.

If you're getting snow, your receiver isn't putting out a signal and you need to investigate why. Do you have the RCA jack connected to the video output on the receiver? The coax connected to the input on the TV? What signal is coming from the receiver, dvd, cable, vcr?

I think I would start by running the dvd video output directly to the TV, see if you get a picture. If you do, you know something is wrong with the receiver setup.

Have you tried the another optical cable? They don't tolerate dirty connections or small-radius bends in their routing. THAT (and the expense of optical cables) is why I always choose coaxial connections when possible.

Connect the audio outputs jacks from the TV to any available audio input terminals on the Yamaha receiver, other than the phono input. You can use any analog audio Left (White) and Right (Red) inputs on your receiver such as the DTV/CBL, SAT or VCR input. There are no special settings needed on the receiver, other than selecting the correct input. There may be some settings that will need to be changed on the TV. Consult the TV ownersEmanual for setting up the TV to output audio to an external source. If youre TV has a digital output (Optical or Coaxial) it can also be run to one of the digital inputs on the Yamaha receiver, such as DTV/CBL or DVD. There may be some settings that will need to be changed on your TV. As always, consult the TV ownersEmanual for setting up the TV to output digital audio to an external source.

NOTE: When the source of the audio signal is coming from an HDMI device connected to the TV, the TV may not output in 5.1 surround sound.

IS IT POSSIBLE TO CONNECT RX- V559 WITH BLUE RAY PLAYER

Yes. Assuming you unnamed BD player has digital audio output that is compatible with one that's available to use on the Yamaha.

OTOH, the coaxial digital input CAN be shared if you use an RCA-Y cable and make sure only ONE of the shared inputs is turned on anytime you use it.

If the BD also has Component Video conenctors you could run them TO the Yamaha, too, but I would opt for the BEST video from the BD to go directly to your TV or monitor, even bypassing the AVR if necessary. The fewer intervening connections and conversions, the better.

Can I connect component av cables "in" to my Yamaha RX-V365 and connect "out" to my TV and get both audio and video?

Receiver does support 3x component inputs and one component output. Both these can carry only video signal, not audio. So you have to connect audio separately, either stereo via analog 2x RCA connectors and digital SPDIC via optical (2x) or coaxial (1x) cable.

Run optical or digital coaxial from your PS3 to the receiver and HDMI from the PS3 directly to the TV. Your receiver's version of HDMI will not work, it's 1.1 and cannot be updated. That's the fix, if you want more info on HDMI problems google HDMI issues or problems and you will find thousands of posts and forums on this issue. Short answer though is, you either need a receiver with version 1.3b HDMI or run optical or digital coaxial for audio to your receiver. Hope this helps
