Picture shrinks to only show top half

This is a common problem on certain models of Philips Magnavox TV sets. The most common symptom is the screen will shrink and expand over and over. After the TV heats up for a while the video will work like normal. After a few weeks or months your TV will eventually stop working and not have video. You can get complete parts and instructions from www.TvRepairKits.com

Can't turn off PIP on Sony XBR videoscope TV

Hit the set up button on the TV.
You'll see options to change the language. The last option is to put the TV in "Demo Mode."
Put the TV in Demo mode, when the first screen appears, "Welcome to...." the PIP will disappear.
Hit exit before the screen moves to the "Menu." If you miss it, watch the demo once--it will restart--and hit the exit button the next time you see the "Welcome to" message.

I just did this and it worked for me - i hope it works for you.

Magnavox tv is stuck in demo mode or something. It is from the 90's. I don't know the serial number off hand, but I need to get it out of demo mode. I tried the volume up volume down buttons. I can...

If you can find the model number (probably located on the back of the TV) you can go to the magnavox website at www.support.magnavox.com and search for your model number. They have troubleshooting tips and tricks for a lot of common problems. You may need to speak with a representative directly to help solve your specific problem. After you find your model on the website, you can download the user manual from the left panel, which may help as well.

Color on my tv

Are you refering to dim colors? If so as long as you dont see any halos your coolant may still be passable. I have seen sets that come back to vivid colors just by cleaning the mirroe and lenses on the crts. You can easily get to the mirror from behind after taking off the back panel and lieing close to the set leaning in over the chassis. Dont use windex a damp soft cloth works best then dry it good with some soft paper towels. Iff you can reach the back side of the screen do that also. The mirrors get dull after awhile and cleaning them really makes a difference. Hope this helps.
