Question about Uniden BC350 Base Scanner

Open Question

My bearcat scanner bc350a isn't picking up channels like it used to

I have had it for a couple of years, and its always worked but suddenly it isn't picking up any channels. Once in a while it will pick up the local channel, but nothing out of town like it used to. Have the frequencies changed?

SOURCE: Uniden Bearcat BC 350A scanner won't pick up 800 channels

You BC350A provides coverage of popular bands between 29 and 512MHz, so it is not capable of receiving signals in the 800MHz range. Sorry, but you'll need a different scanner to follow the action.

SOURCE: I have uniden bearcat ubc120xlt scanner ican not

  • Hi, I can help.
  • I would not say the scanner is worthless as it has many uses. But this scanner is not digital capable and any digital signals will not be received on this scanner.
  • You can still do plenty of listening on it though.

  • If you have any comments please feel free to leave them here.
  • Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa.

Regards, Tony

I have a bearcat scanner BC350A

Units that are stored for a long time may take some time (hours) if caps inside have gone flat from no use.

Uniden also has or had a flat charge for repair of these units--might want to look into that and weigh it versus the cost of a newer scanner.

Depending on where you are your local police may be using encryption technology that will only let you hear beeps and tones without a proper decoder device.

Won't stop scanning

L16 Disc coil needs adjustment, Audio is slightly off, and improper noise to DC squelch level detect used to stop scan on active channel. Set to an on freq signal like a NOAA weather channel, and useing a non-metallic tool, adjust to best sounding audio, probably less than a half turn either direction. An on freq signal moduated by 1000hertz, connect scope to speaker and adjust for highest undistorted recovered audio would be better if you could.
