Try to print some more pages. The ink will take time to go down as it is not free flowing. This is due to the air beetween the new ink and the old ink, after some printing the air is push out and then you can have a clear print.

Very limited directions for changing print cartridge. I changed it out the way I THINK IT GOES. Makes ratcheting noises and says to check cartridge. What did I do wrong? Need more complete directions.

Try these instructions. If you are still unsure, you may need to take it to a service center for cartridge installation:

WARNING: Be careful not to cut yourself on the sharp edges of the metal part shown in the illustration.

1 Push the OPEN button to open the top cover.
2 Remove the stopper from the printing cartridge.

I need your help my printer quit printing, I was low on ink and it quit printing after I printed a page. I changed cartridges and it still would not print, so I swapped cartridges with a different printer...

So it prints the self test (test page) or not?

If nothing is printing from at all (printer moves likes it is printing when in operation, but no ink hitting paper) there may be a blockage on the jets or the information is not getting to the printer properly if these same cartridges work on another printer.

I would lift lid and carefully check each one and wipe with a thin cloth the remove any clotted ink and dirt.

You have already reinstalled the drivers, but I would get the latest ones you can from www.hp.com

Finally I would cold reset the printer - usually holding the go button pressed in while hitting the power button on and off - will reset rthe calibration and give you a better chance of fixing.

Also if you have the cartridges for the wrong model, they may physically fit in, but the chip on the cart will tell the printer theres a problem and won;t print.

Summary:

- Check cartridges - off the top of my head (please check!) you should be using HP 45 for Black and HP 68 for Colour (if using a different brand, fine but the numbers are thee same)
- Download latest drivers
- Cold reset printer and install again

Good Luck
