SOURCE: I have a colman ac

On my computer screen these two problems are not the same.

To "garys2003" Clicking you hear is the contactor closing in calling for cooling. If no power is being supplied to the outside unit high voltage the unit will not run. Check your circuit breaker or fuses in the outside power box. If the outside power box is of the non-fused disconnect, check that the disconnect is inserted properly.

To Trenina: Is your unit a self contained unit outside ducted to the inside as with a Mobile Home. If so your evaporator cooling coil may be frozen over stopping air movement, turn the cooling off and set your fan to on until it defrosts, then return to normal operation and leave the fan on during cooling.

If nothing comes on inside as with a central A/C system you may have a problem with the blower motor itself.

if it is a programmable thermostat you can unhook thermostat and when it comes on select 3 instead of 1. As it sounds as though it is short cycling this happens in older houses with drafts. Hope this helps Tim

Hi, I have an older mobil home with a Colman AC

Your unit uses both the capacitor and a contactor (relay) to start your compressor and motor. With the indications you are giving it would either be the capacitor or the contactor - and since you have already changed the cap - then replace the contractor!

NOTE: We always recommend that you change the capacitor and relay at the same time, because they seem to fail at about the same time.

No cool air

It is the capacitor write down the wiring colors to the capacitor and then disconnect the safety disconnect on side of house. And even turn off the breaker to the condensing unit. Okay now that no power is going to the unit take out the capacitor you wrote down what wires went where and ohm out the herm side go from the center post to herm side. Should be bad wont get a reading. Get new capacitor and re install. good luck ken

If not capacitor get back to me. And please leave good feed back
