Shows connected to interenet wtih 54 mbps but no IE

Interenet explorer isnt working even though it shows that it is connected. I have uninstalled the driver, then reinstalled it. updated it, rolled it back. it is an Atheros wireless card. I dont know whats going on. I uninstalled it, then physically removed it, rebooted in safe made, made sure it didnt detect anything shut down. Physically installed it and Turned on. Computer automatically detected it then Internet explorer still does not work. Right now I am heading to walmart to get a new wireless card. Im hoping that I can find something compatible with my Toshiba Satellite A65-S1065

Anybody else have any suggestions? I did all the help options on the internet explorer not working properly menu too.

Thanks

so could it be my built in wireless card?

  • adam_minton Jan 11, 2009

tried that. It did not work. I think it is the wireless card. I just dont want to believe it because it shows connected with excellent strength at 54 mbps.

One thing you may need to do is go in the Internet Options Folder then click on connections tab on the top.. then click on lan settings at the bottom..the put a check mark in the automaticly detect proxy settings.. make sure no other boxes are checked.. close the browser and re-open it.. and so long as you have a connection to your router it should work.. if not post what version of windows you are using and the wireless settings..everything on the page when you run ipconfig post..

Sounds like your WiFi isn't connected. Pop the charms bar out of the right hand side by putting the mouse in the upper right hand corner, and go to settings.look for the WiFi icon, click it, is it connected?

Internet not working

Make sure the router is set to DHCP to avoid any IP conflicts. This may be caused by connecting a switch before the router and blocking the routing table.

I bought the 7 inch notebook and you cant use it unless you down load interenet explorer 8 wich it wont let you do

Try using Mozilla Firefox or Gogle Chrome instead of Internet Explorer 8.
Mozilla Firefox is more stable than internet explorer.

I lost power and had to reset dsl modem and my linksys 2.4 wireless-G. I used to be able to turn on computer click on Interenet explorer Icon and go straight to google. Now I have to open aol first,...

Ya the best thing to do is delete AOL all together.

Ok, making a desktop icon for Googel or any other website.
Open your internet explorer, it doesn't matter how you get their. Open Google and once google opens, right click with your mouse ( over any part of the google page ) and scroll down to create a shortcut and left click with your mouse. You will get a message, can't create hear, do you want to make it on desktop ? Click yes and close your google, internet explorer and anything else you may have open.
Now, look on your desktop for Google and hold down the left mouse button on the icon and dragging it anywhere you may want to put it on the desktop.

I cant open internet by clicking on intnet explorer??

go to your control panel and open "internet options" go to "Security" look at the bottom of that window and untick the browser security option then ok and try opening the browser again, if you are using IE 7 or 8 that option is there, if using 8 with windows XP then remove IE8.

Spyware problem

Hi snthaa; First copy the URL of the site that you are being sent to and post it here. To get your home page back. Go to your IE tools drop down menu and select tools. Then Internet options. At the tip of the box there is a space where you can type in the URL of your desired home page. (example: http://google.com). This should return you to your desired home page when you log onto your computer. If the spyware that I think you have is what I think it is then you have a pretty nasty bug. But there is a solution.
