Wishing to purchase a copy of 'PSW Options'

I already own the PSW 2.0, I am wanting to purchase a copy of the 'PSW Options' software to enhance the PSW and give the added features of Hyperfont, Autopunch and Photostitch.

They have stopped making both; but you can buy up the PSW's, but I can not find anyone who has the PSW Options. I am willing to purchase a 2nd hand copy if I could find one.

Thanks in advance for taking the time to read and help me out if you can.

Where can I get a conversion software

I also have an XL-6000, and I have the PSW 1.0 software. There is a patch for the 1.0 and 1.1 software for Win 7, as well as instructions. I would recommend that you join a Yahoo group called TeamSewAmused. It's dedicated to the XL-1000, XL-5000 and XL-6000, as well as the PSW 1.0 and 2.0 software, and they have LOADS of instructions in their Files section. Your software WILL run in Windows 7 and Windows 8 and 8.1.

I need my xl-5000 to work with windows 8

I gather than your new laptop doesn't have a CD drive. See if you can borrow a desktop with a CD drive, and copy the files to at least an 8 G thumb drive; from there, you can plug in the thumb drive into your new laptop and install the PSW software from there.. You can also use a smart card with a smart card converter box that plugs into your USB drive (I got mine from eBay for about $7.00), copy the files to the smart card, and then plug in the smart card into your machine, OR you can buy a USB to serial cable, Belkin FSU 409--and a null modem cable.to communicate directly with your machine. There are a number of serial to USB cables available, but it MUST have that specific chip to work with your XL-5000. You will also have to install the driver for that cable, and the install CD will come along with your cable. The easiest place to purchase them is probably eBay.

Conecting to a computer

Several things: You will need to purchase the PSW conversion software to be able to transfer embroidery designs to your sewing machine. Also, you should have received a cable with your XL-6000 that allows it to communicate with your computer. The one that came with my machine has a pin type connector on both ends and it's known as a null serial port connector. I had to purchase another cable because the pin connector would not work with my USB ports on my laptop. I ordered one online and it came with a CD (driver) that you have to load to your computer to make it work. Another thing was that my newer version of Windows (7) would not run the conversion software that came with the sewing machine. There is a feature in Windows 7 that allows you to run software made for previous versions of Windows. Go go Control Panel>Programs>Programs and Features>Run software made for previous versions of Windows. Hope this helps.

My D1 still runs designs from a floppy. I have the 4D software. What computer extension do I need to save my designs to, in order for the sewing machine to be able to stitch them. So far I'm having no luck...

Your Designer 1 will read none of the file formats you listed. It uses .shv which is a special file type created just for the Designer 1. Some embroidery sellers offer this format, but most do not. You don't need the .shv if you have the 4D software. When you purchase designs, you can buy almost any format you want and your software will deal with it. Most Husqvarna Designer owners purchase designs in .vp3 or .pes format. Avoid .art designs.

You need to set up your software using the Configure module. You can access this either by locating your 4D software folder on your hard drive - in that folder there should be an .exe called Configure - or use a link in your normal 4D screen once you open the program. Look for the icon along the top that looks like a screwdriver and pliers (or something like that). In Configure use the Send 1 tab to tell your software that you have a floppy disk Designer 1.

When you want to load designs for your sewing machine, open 4D Disk Manager (it will be in the drop-down Accessories box using the arrow beside the Configure button). You need to have the correctly formatted floppy disk in your computer's floppy disk drive. If you don't have one, you can format a blank one from within the Disk Manager module. Most importantly if you are using a floppy that already has been used in your Designer 1, you need to use the Read Disk icon along the top. The designs already on your floppy are read into the program. You can then add whatever designs you want by using the Open (icon showing an open manilla folder) or View (looks like a blue camera) buttons. Then you choose the Write Disk button to put not only your newly added designs on the floppy disk, but to also put back the ones that were already on it. Click "Yes" when asked if you want to erase designs already on the disk. It is quite safe provided you read the disk into Disk Manager first, as described above.

When I try to open design enhancer I get an error

This error can appear when you attempt to start 4D software. This will happen if you have installed any version 8.0 4D software, and the 4D Embroidery System software that is already installed has a later version than your 4D software.
If you have a CD (or DVD) containing 4D Embroidery System Software for version 8.1 or later, install the update for the 4D Embroidery System found in the Patch folder on the CD (or DVD).
If you have updated your 4D Embroidery System to version 8.1 or later using an update obtained with Smart Update, find the update you have already downloaded and run it again.
If you are unable to find the update, or you are not sure if you have the latest update, use Smart Update to obtain the latest update, as described in CC007.
When you run the update, you may be asked to choose between Modify, Repair and Remove. This selection appears because you have updated on a previous occasion. Choose the Repair option, and this will ensure all your 4D Embroidery System software is updated.

I bought a Quantum XL6000 last August and I still can't figure out how to go from the computer to the machine or how to even use it. Help. What do I need to buy?

I have this machine, and you just have to hook up the machine to your computer using a serial cable. It should have come with one. If not, or if you don't have a serial (nine pin) port on your computer, you can buy a cable that goes from serial (nine pin on your machine) to usb (flat plug that goes to your machine). If you don't have the machine next to your computer and don't want to move it around (it IS very heavy) then you can buy software like Embird and a SmartMedia card. You have to also have a card reader either in your computer or hooked up to your computer. This can get expensive, but is much more convenient if your machine is in a different room. My computer already had the reader as a drive, since this card was popular in some digital cameras.

Can't get Machine to accept software from computer

This is techcrazy

The machines have a series of sensors that tell the computer how all of the machine components are positioned. so the problem in your machine is due to sensor.which do not get positioned properly to do the stitches.so check out for the sensors and also do check out for the removable memory disks or cartridges so that they do not have any defects.

kindly rate me on the above said solution
