How to set the privacy settings on a Yahoo profile?
While chatting in Instant Messenger with a friend, I tried to look at his Yahoo profile (Actions > Contact Options > View Profile). The message I get is: "We've launched a new profile in Yahoo! The user you are searching for either does not exist, or has chosen to keep their profile private." When I mentioned this to my friend, he says he didn't set his profile to private and doesn't know how to un-do it. We tried to look under Preferences and My Account, but so far we can't find out where the Private option is. Anyone out there, can you help??

Re: How to set the privacy settings on a Yahoo profile?
Yahoo used to hold profiles at members.yahoo.com but now all the profiles have been redone. I've had yahoo for like a decade now and was not aware that my profile was gone. He's not lying to you he just hasn't been made aware and set his new profile up yet. Inform him that he needs to do so if you're going to be able to view it.

Hello. To use your webcam in chatting through yahoo messenger, sign in to your YM account then click the name of your friend you want to chat with. Click the "actions" and find "more actions". Then click on "invite to view my webcam" and wait for your friend to accept your request.
You can also use the Video Call. Just click "Video Call" and wait for your friend to answer your call. Just make sure your webcam and speaker were installed correctly in your computer.
Hope this helps.
Some virus can cause this bug in Yahoo Messenger. Check your Internet Options, go to Security Tab, and see if there is a new item. Normal items there are Internet, Local Intranet, Trusted sites, and Restricted sites. If you see a new item, chances are you were hit by a virus.
To resolve this, open a registry editor (click Start, click Run. On the Open box, type: regedit and then press Enter). Navigate to the following key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft\ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Internet Settings \ Zones
There should only be 5 items there, numbered 0 to 4. If you see a different one, especially if you see items that shows up as box, try deleting it. (Backup your registry first). If you were able to delete that extra item, this might fix the bug, and you will be able to see the chat messages again in yahoo messenger.
