How do I replace the keyboard on a Gateway LT3119U?

Visit the Gateway support document website and locate the "User's Guide" section of the listings for your laptop model.

You should be able to locate either a "component replacement manual," or a document focusing specifically on replacement of the keyboard for that model (as different models of keyboards have slightly different methods of removing the keyboard.)

You may also wish to check the FAQ's in the support documents of your model, as they may also contain information on replacing the keyboard.

Power down your Gateway laptop and remove the battery.

This will not only ensure that you don't accidentally damage your laptop by powering it up while working on its components, but may also be necessary to reach the mounting screws for your laptop's keyboard.

Press the power button once after the battery has been removed to discharge any remaining electricity that the laptop may have stored.

Consult the support documents for your Gateway laptop model and find out where the keyboard mounting screws are located.

There will most likely be between two and five screws, depending on the specific model of laptop that you own.

You may be required to remove the keyboard bezel (the strip of plastic that runs along the top of the keyboard) in order to reach some or all of the screws; this can be done either by sliding the bezel off to the right of the laptop or by simply lifting it off once loosened (though you may need to use a coin or flat-head screwdriver to detach clips or pry the bezel out of its resting location.)

Remove the screws holding the keyboard in place.

The screws will either be located on the bottom of the laptop (under the space that the battery occupies) or beneath the keyboard bezel.

Put the screws in a safe place where they will not be lost, since you will need to use them to secure the new keyboard.

Lift the keyboard up from the bottom, detaching the keyboard connector and pulling the keyboard itself free from the Gateway laptop, then setting it aside.

You may need to once again use a coin or flat-head screwdriver in order to depress clips which might be holding the keyboard in place.)

Plug your new keyboard into the keyboard connector, then carefully place it back into the space previously occupied by your old keyboard.

If the keyboard is designed to be held in place by clips, press down with sufficient pressure to clip the keyboard into place.

Replace the screws that you had previously removed from the Gateway laptop.

Make sure that the screws are firmly in place both to ensure that the keyboard is secure and also to eliminate any potential problems with replacing the bezel or battery.

Reattach the bezel (if you removed it) and the laptop battery, making sure that all components have been reattached and are firmly secured.

Once the battery is back in place, press the power button to power up the Gateway laptop and give your operating system a chance to recognize the newly-installed keyboard.

hope this helps

How to clear a cmos password on a Gateway T1625 Laptop

b49ba1f.jpg
This picture is an actual replacement system board for the Gateway
T-1625 notebook. If you look at the top of the picture you will see the cmos battery location. You will need to remove the hard drive access panel which will allow you to see the battery location. You will need to remove at least 3/4 of the screws on the outside edges of the bottom of the laptop including two screws in the laptop battery location which are of different size than the rest. Set those two aside from the others. You do not need to remove the screw in the center of the laptop with the letter K next to it that is a keyboard release screw. Also remove the two screws located next to the removable wireless network module which is located next to the hard drive. Once you have removed the screws very carefully seperate the laptop casing starting from the middle of the cmos battery location and working you way out to the edges. You do not have to completely take this cover off you only need an 1/2 of an inch of space to work in. I used a hard piece of 1/2 inch plastic to wedge in the center to keep the cover open enough to work in, Once you remove the battery leave it out for a few mins then replace it and put your laptop back together in the reverse order. Your cmos will need to have it's date and time reset when you first turn it back on. Your cmos password will now be removed.

How do I replace a monitor on a Gateway 4538

I would not recommend doing it yourself. However, You need to find a vendor who has a screen. You then, remove all the screws on the front of the bezel; and carefully, remove it to avoid breaking any of the clips. (those little rubber pads on the front?!?!?) those have screws under them. Just be careful, and make sure the laptop is off.

Also, be sure it is the screen ;and not a part called an "inverter" that charges the screen up. Best advice would be to take it to a local expert that will give you an estimate.

REPLACE GATEWAY LAP TOP TOUCH PAD

HI THERE!!

Replacing the touchpad of your laptop is not difficult but because laptop parts are very delicate you need to be careful

To remove the touchpad you need to remove the top cover, also known as the palm rest

1.Power off the Gateway laptop, then disconnect the AC adapter from the power jack. Remove any other devices connected to the laptop.

2.Place your hand on a bare metal surface to release any buildup of static electricity. Close the lid to your laptop and turn the computer over.

3.Slide the battery lock over to the side to pop the battery out from its compartment.

4.Set the battery aside, then turn your computer over once again so that it's facing up. Rotate the laptop so that the back (not the bottom) is facing you.

5.Remove the two screws securing the bezel in place from the back of the laptop

6. Open the lid to the laptop, then insert a flat-head screwdriver underneath one end of the bezel to loosen it from the top cover. The bezel is located just above the keyboard, but below the monitor

7. Carefully remove the bezel the rest of the way. Insert the end of the flat-head screwdriver underneath the top of the keyboard to pull it away from the laptop.

8. Turn the keyboard over and place it face-down on the top cover. Remove the cable connecting the keyboard to the motherboard. You may need to pull back and unlock a connector securing the cable in place.

9. Set the keyboard aside. Remove the four screws located just beneath the display panel, then remove the cable connecting the monitor to the motherboard. Carefully set the LCD display aside.

10. Remove the four screws located near the center of the top cover. Release small blue and white cable connecting the touchpad to the Gateway laptop.

11.Pull the top cover up from the base of the laptop, removing the touchpad along with it.

NOTE; you can remove your touchpad and swap it out with a new one, but you can also buy a top cover with a touchpad pre-installed.

Get the replacement keyboard for the same model of _barebook_. To find the model go to the "uniwill" website, almost all barebooks are made by uniwill or hasee. The barebook is the base system (motherboard, casing and LCD only), the rest of the components are added by the computer shop.
It may be hard to find a replacement keyboard for a generic computer.
When you find the exact replacement, look for the posts under the keyboard that accept the screws and look under the notebook where are located those screws, they can have a keyboard icon near the correspondent hole. Remove them and unlock the latches that hold the keyboard near the F1~F12, caps lock and enter keys while lifting the keyboard out. Be careful with the ribbon cable, unlock the connector and remove, connect the new keyboard, lock the connector, slide in place and lock the latches and put the screw(s) again.
