Question about GE GSH25JSRSS Stainless Steel Side by Side Refrigerator

1 Answer

GE frig not cooling now

A clicking sound started in the back of the frig , like a wall clock tick, when the water dispenser was used the water pulsated out. when I took the plate off the back the electronic board has several small black boxes connected in ,like a turn signal box under the hood of a car, about 1 1/2'' or 2'' cubed one of those seems to be clicking. i noticed that on each click the fan motor moved a little it took about 10 -12 clicks to turn it 1 full revolution. does a part or the whole board need to be replaced?

Those's little black boxes are relays,or could be called a switch.when you chose a function of your refer it relays thru that board and to the part that needs energized.i'm not sure if its the board bad but i don't think Therese any thing else to suspect.you could look at your refer's tech sheet,it may have some checks for you to do.the relays are not replaceable by themselves.i hope this is a start sorry can't tell more,God bless ,tom

WR55X10942 Main Control Board This sounds like motherboard failure. I am not sure what your model number is but that will be important should you have someone to help repair your refrigerator. These problems are common on the Artica Profile Models. I will be here to help you repair if you should choose, Thanks Sea Breeze

You have a bad main control board . Located behind the refrig , behind an 8 X 10 " panel . Easily replaceable . Sorry , not Seabreeze . You can reach him at seabreeze appliance parts . com , I think .

GE Side By Side Ice Machine & Water dispenser not getting water

you may have a pin hole in your water line to your dispenser or you could be leaking at the water valve itself on the water dispenser side. you'll have to pull the refrigerator out from the wall and look where the main water line goes into the back of the refrigerator. you will probably have to take the back off to see. be sure you put the back of the refrigerator back when you are through.

I have a GE SxS that I bought in Sept. 06. About

First you need to turn the freezer temp control back on(That just turned the whole refrigerator off)
The water dispenser may have stopped due to line freezing inside the refrigerator.
The ticking could have been the the element for the defrost cycle or the starter on the compressor.
So,turn it back on,set the temp to a normal setting and if the ticking is still there, wait 30 minutes to see if it stops,If no ticking is there when you restart it,wait 24 hour and check the temp inside as well as the water and ice dispenser,If all work,It is a defrost issue. If so you will either need a defrost timer, defrost element,or defrost thermostat.
If the ticking is still there,You will need to replace the start/run capacitor.

Frig side is not cooling.

Check if there is frost on the back wall of the freezer, if so it is not defrosting. Many GE fridges need a new defrost heater every couple of years. If it's not defrosting, you can get by for a while by unplugging the fridge and leaving the freezer door open for 24 hrs, then plugging back in.

Clciking noise

I was having the same problem.

I read on fixya that there is a reliability issue with many models.

I called GE customer service. They sent a repair guy who swapped out the motherboard at no charge even though it was out of warranty.

Works great now.

2 of my neighbors' friges went out in the summer here in Las Vegas. They both lost all their food.

He said I was lucky because after the clicking noise begins, the motherboard usually crashes the next day. Mine clicked for a month.
