I already did it many times, also, I cleansed cartridge's carriage and put new cartridges in printer.I think the problem lies in electronic circuit of the printer.

  • abeskin Jan 12, 2009

I already did [CLEANING] and [HEAD REFRESHING].Pattern printed is correct as I said at the beginning. I changed printer preferences to High printing - no result.
I tried to update printer driver in 'Hardware Manager' (including Internet search) it says I have already current driver. Can you give exact location where driver could be found?

You have to replace the print head ...I don't know if you will find any online, but Canon's customer support center (1-800-828-4040) sells print heads for your model (about $40). Use the phone prompts for supplies and accessories.

You can change the paper feed by going in the Printing Preferences menu. Click on Control Panel, double click on Printers and Faxes, this should bring up your Canon icon. Right click on the Canon Icon and left click on the Printing Preferences Tab. On the Printing Preferences Menu you will see a heading called Print Quality. Print Quality gives you 4 options, High, Standard, Draft and Custom. Choosing one of these 4 options will change the speed paper moves through the printer.
Another option to get the cleaning fluid for black cartridge and run several pages.
Also try to reinstall the softwear.

If it wont help the CANON might say that you need to replace the printhead which is not worthy because it up to $50.
Good Luck

Contact the manufacturer. Your black printhead needs replaced.

Posted on Jan 12, 2009

  • David Shaub Jan 12, 2009

Check your black print against something you printed before you had the problem. You could be getting black print from your color cartridge. It uses all the colors to make black. See if you can print whthout the colored ink. If not, the printhead is dead. If you registered your purchase, the manufacturer will probably replace the printhead at no cost, if you're within the warranty period or at least close. Mine was 4 months past and they replaced if, no questions asked.

The printer preferences menu should have a "maintenence" or "cleaning" option. Try this first. If this does not work, check the black ink cartridge to make sure it is seated properly. This may fix the problem. If not you then should replace the cartridge. Going through this process should fix the problem. If not, you should bring the unit to a repair center. I hope this solution works for you.
Best regards, Michael Mittelsdorf.

Hi

  1. Perform a printer head cleaning
On the operation panel of the printer, press <Additional Functions> button.

Press the left [<] or right [>] arrow buttons to select [MAINTENANCE].

Press the [Set] button.

Press [<] or [>] to select the cleaning setting you want. [CLEANING] for normal print head cleaning. [HEAD REFRESHING] for deep print head cleaning.

Press <Set>.

Print a Nozzle Check Pattern and perform at least two Head Refreshing if the pattern is not correct.

Also when you are printing from a computer and there is no black

  1. Open up the printer perferences - start -> control panel -> printers and faxes, select your printer & right click select printer preferences.
  2. Find the print quality setting, Select High
  3. Test the black printing

If that doesn't solve the problem try to update to the lastest drivers available. That may not solve the issue as this is most likely a hardware/software issue in the printer not the computer.

Report back how it goes.

Factory reset

This type of problem is typically caused by one of the ink cartridges which is suffering from marginal electrical performance - either the HP92 (black) or HP93 (color) ink cartridge.

Can you perform the 'Self Test Page' test (see below). If this test is successful then this demonstrates the printer is 'generally operational', but if normal printing is still not permitted then either the HP92 (black) or HP93 (color) ink cartridge is likely electrically damaged and may need to be replaced*.

Perform Self Test Page:
1. Press and hold the CANCEL button.
2. Press the COLOR COPY button. Release both buttons.
3. The self test prints. The printed pattern will verify printer is generally functional. Inspect color bars to verify proper nozzle/jetting health.

-- Inspect printed nozzle stair step patterns - verify all ink nozzles are properly firing. Generally, if the Self Test Page prints ok then the printer is functioning correctly and the problem is with the ink cartridges - replace the suspect ink cartridge and retest. Refer to 2nd video procedure at the following link on how to read the Self Test page test (NOTE: HP74/75 cartridges are electrically identical to the HP92 thru 98 cartridges).
http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=579

*Many cartridges eventually do encounter problems or failures. Severe cartridge errors are primarily caused by an electrical breakdown at the cartridge's nozzle plate. Ink *********** or corrosion into the nozzle plate will cause a failure of the tiny micro-electronics resulting in a variety of different error messages being displayed - see picture at bottom of this page: http://inkjet411.com/?page_id=1216

It is suggested to install a new HP92 and/or HP93 ink cartridge in it to resolve the current issue.

Hi,

Check the control panel for error indicators. The error light is to the left of the display and is marked "Error," it will illuminate. The error will appear on the screen and is in plain English, so very simple to interpret. An example is "Color or Black Ink Out," meaning there's no ink.

  • 2 Verify that the Epson Stylus CX3200 is connected to the printer with a cable. Try connecting without a USB hub while troubleshooting---that way you can identify if the problem is with the hub or printer. Replace the cable, it may be bad.
  • 3 Print a nozzle check pattern to determine the extent of the problem. The nozzle check will allow you to determine whether the printer will print at all, and the results will give you a good indication of print problems. Press the Menu button on the Control Panel until you see Nozzle Check and press the Color Copy button.
  • 4 Replace the printer cartridges if the Control Panel suggests you do so. Press the Menu button until you see "Change Cartridge" Press the Color Copy button and the cartridges will move to their change position. Lift the scanner and unclamp the cartridge. Replace the cartridge---color is on the right and black on the left. The Epson Stylus CX3200 will start charging the cartridge and after about thirty seconds the printer will be ready for use.

Please telme how can clean the nozell of a stylus cx6400

Please perform the following steps to ensure your printer is physically functioning.

    1) Disconnect the printer cable that is connecting printer to the computer.
    2) Turn the printer ON by holding down the POWER button for about 3 seconds.
    3) Load A4 or LETTER size paper in the sheet feeder on the back of the printer. Press the SETUP button to enter Setup Mode.
    4) Press the green button next to the LCD screen until you see NOZZLE CHECK is displayed, then press the COLOR button to print the nozzle check.
    5) The printer will print a pattern displaying a number and a nozzle pattern with black & color. Examine the nozzle check pattern that has printed. Each staggered horizontal line and straight vertical line should be complete.
    6) To exit the SETUP mode, simply press the COPY mode so that it is illuminated or the copy options appear in the LCD.

If the nozzle check pattern page doesn't print or if it prints with gaps or missing sections, the print head may need cleaning or the ink cartridge(s) may need to be replaced.

If the nozzle check pattern page prints correctly, the problem may be with your software settings, the interface cable, or your computer.

    Color differences

    i apologize for the inconvinience.

the possible reason why its printing the right color, is bec. some of the nozzles might be clogged by dried inks, so when inks come out, the combination of colors are not balance. try printing a nozzle check first, if the nozzle check have gaps or breaks, try head cleaning, nozzle check after it so you can see if it improve or still w/ gaps, just do nozzle check, head cleaning, then nozzle check, head cleaning alternately until no more gaps then try to print.

    Printing a nozzle check pattern
    Load paper in your printer
In SelecType mode, press the Paper Feed (fontu1.gif) or Paper Feed (fontd1.gif) button until TEST PRINT is displayed on the LCD panel, and then press the SelecType button.
Press Paper Feed (fontu1.gif) or Paper Feed (fontd1.gif) button to display NOZZLE CHECK
Press SelecType button to display PRINT
Press the Enter button. The nozzle check pattern is printed as shown below. After printing, printer exits the SelecType mode and return to the READY status.

You may want to do the ff. just to make sure your printer is physically functioning.

    1. Disconnect the printer cable that is connecting printer to the computer.
    2. Turn the printer ON by holding down the POWER button for about 3 seconds.
    3. Load A4 or LETTER size paper in the sheet feeder on the back of the printer. Press the SETUP button to enter Setup Mode.

    6. To exit the SETUP mode, simply press the COPY mode so that it is illuminated or the copy options appear in the LCD.
If the Nozzle Check Pattern page does not print, prints out with gaps in it or some of the colors do no appear, then there is an issue with the printer. That means that troubleshooting is required on the printer prior to using printer on the computer.
If the Nozzle Check Pattern page prints correctly and completely, the problem may lie within your software settings, the interface cable, or your computer.
