Question about Sony Audio Players & Recorders
Hi Yam_man_dan, I have the same problem with my stereo. How do I check the gears? Do I remove the rotator that holds the CDs?

Find the screws that hold the to of the case to the chassis. They should be on the bottom, and back. Once they're removed, gently pull the top off. You may have to fish under the carousel to get the CD, but if you're gentle, you should be okay. Make DARN sure the power's unplugged, and keep your tools away from the power supply, just in case there's some residual energy left. Good luck!

Take the cover off and inspect for a jammed disc.
If there are no jammed discs you either have a broken belt or stripped gear.
You will have to take the unit apart and inspect, belts are commercially available from electronic stores and are a cheap easy fix!
Let me know if you need more details or guidance.
