Gas dryer burner lights then go out after about 20 to 30 seconds then lights again is this normal

Try disconnecting the vent from the dryer temporarily. If it runs better the venting is restricted somewhere.

replace the coils on the gas valve.

The burner will shut off for various reasons.

First, there is a sensor right at the burner flame. If the sensor does not indicate flame the gas is shut off to avoid filling your house with gas. It is usually a short metal rod. Oftentimes cleaning it will get it working again. Or the signal from the sensor isn't getting back to the controller, so check for loose connections.

There are some other sensors that will shut the heat down. A temp sensor where the hot air leaves the dryer drum. This is to keep from overheating the clothes and lighting them on fire. If this sensor is bad, or the wiring to it is not getting that signal back to the controller, the dryer will shut the burner down. Although 10-15 seconds is pretty short, this is a possibility. Try different heat settings to see if you get the same result. If it only happens on one heat setting you most likely have a bad temp sensor.

Another possibility is that the gas valve (solenoid) is getting near the end of its life and can't stay open long. This is not likely, but still possible since the burner does light.

Next possibility is that the gas line is partially plugged. When the burner fires the gas pressure drops rapidly. When the burner goes out the gas sneaking past the obstruction raises the pressure back up.

Final possibility is a bad controller.

What you`ve ``just started noticing...`` is likely the ignitor glowing or the burner burning and is quite normal for a ``gas`` dryer.

With the limited information you gave I will assume this is a gas dryer that the flame starts for a minute or so and then shuts off. This problem is going to be your safety valve coils...basically they get old and over time of heating then cooling develop a short when they heat up...It may appear the gas lights to start but then goes out until the safety valve coils cool back down. Here is a picture of the coils This The coils are mounted to the gas safety valve, This should solve your problem. First thing to check is the vent. Make sure you have sufficient air flow to the outside. If you are not sure if you have the proper rate of flow, disconnect the vent from the dryer, turn dryer on and see if burner stays on longer. Do this with a couple of damp, spun-dry towels inside the drum. If the burner short cycles again, you need to replace the coils on top of the burner assembly. These are the two black round coils.

The problem you are describing is usually associated with a bad gas valve coil. The dryer runs normally until it gets hot, then starts making a strange clicking noise. After it cools down, the dryer runs normally again. The gas valve coils (there are two of them) usually run about $20 a piece. I recommend replacing both of them at the same time just to be sure.
