Compressor has air coming out the air in take, and has air pressure in the crankcase. When shut off. I shut it off at 150psi.

home compressors should cut out at 100- 110 psi so check / replace the controller
air out of the inlet is air under pressure holding the valves open
pressure in the sump is a blocked breather for the sump possibly from excessive air pressure
remember it is not pressure that drives tools but volume flow so if you have a 10 cubic ft /min compressor but are running a tool that requires 12 cubic ft /min air then 150 psi is not the answer
a bigger capacity compressor is

Large red pressure adjustment knob on my compressor is broken and will not screw on, compressor will not hold pressure

You may have to replace the regulator as many of them do not sell just the knob. If you go to this link and put your model number in the search box you will be able to see what is available for it. By the way, Stanley (Bostitch) merged with DeWalt so all the breakdowns for Bostitch can be found on the same site now.

Mac 5200 pumps pressure to 140lbs. then blows off pressure until 120lbs is reached. Cut in is about 115lbs. I have replaced main switch and it still does same. Tried small adjustments on mainswicth st

Check your Safety Valve. It is on the back of the tank sometimes on one of the pressure switch ports or on the air manifold. It has a ring on it to pull to relieve pressure from the tank. The spring in these can get overheated so they don't hold air unless the tank gets over 165 psi. When the motor is running hold the center pin in to see if you have the same results. If the valve holds air until you let it go, replace it.

Compressor never shuts off pressure goes to between 100 and 110psi. when switch is turned off holds pressure for long time

Hi

The pressure swich needs to be ajusted while compressor is running so you can get preesure in tank up to approx 145psi to 150psi, at which point compressor should cutoff, un till it reachs its minimal tank pressure, at which point the compressor should restart.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Hard starting does this model have an unloader

There are two types of unloaders used on IR compressors. One is oil pressure controlled, and second is manually activated for starting. According to the photo and model number provided, yours is manually operated. Follow air line from compressor to tank. The pilot valve (brass valve) between airline and tank is a multi-function component. There is a flip leaver or pull ring w/ hold that unloads the compressor by venting air thru small muffler. The valve also contains the check-valve holding pressure in the tank, a means of adjusting pressure and controlls throttle for engine. For easy start, flip leaver upright and start; to run, flip leaver to right angle of stem.

Air is leaking through high pressure side of IR type 30 T7 compressor and out the intake filter,,what is the cause of this? Bad valve?

Air compressors generally use a check valve at the tank to prevent loading of the compressor at start of cycle. Easy to check. With unit powered off and pressure in tank remove fitting from compressor to tank and test for leak. Check valve is uaually brass or steel and can be removed and sometimes cleaned. If faulty, replace with generic valve available thru WWW.grainger.com. If you find that your airline from pump to tank is full of carbon deposits, you will most likely need to clean airline and decarbon headvalve area. Even is tank checkvalve is leaking, valves at head should hold pressure. Since your pumps leaks thru intake indicates valves are not holding pressure. Good luck with your prepair.

Leaking air

When the Pressure switch shuts off, the little air valve in the pressure switch vents the copper line from the compressor, to blead the pressure from the compressor so it's easier to start the next time. If it continues to leak, the check valve between compressor and tank must not be holding.

Why does my compreeor switch release the air after reaching the required pressure instead of holding the air at the required pressure??? I've just purchased and fitted a new automatic cut off switch to my...

There are two valves in play here. There is a relief valve that opens when the motor kicks off to release the pressure in the compressor itself. That is normal, and is required so that the motor can restart next time without having to overcome that pressure. The other valve is the problem. It is a reed valve between the compressor and the tank. This valve's job is to prevent the air in the tank from returning to the compressor. Think of it as a ratchet for the air. It is this reed valve that has failed.

Compressor tamk pressure

That small piece of rubber came from the compressor pump, more than likely you have a broken valve or blown head gasket in the pump, that is why it will not build pressure.

Once compressor reaches 125 lbs. pressure, the relief valve opens and releases pressure. the motor then tries to engage but cannot come to full speed because of back pressure I am trying to find and...

Generally, the safety/relief is set to 140 to 160psi. The pressure setting is stamped on the side of the valve. Replace the valve if it will not hold stamped pressure(cost about $6 at Lowes Lumber). The pressure switch is usually set at the factory to 120 - 130 psi. The unloader part of the pressure switch will not release backpressure unless it reaches set cut-off. The 1/4 inch line attached to the pressure switch connects to air discharge tube at the intank checkvalve (brass valve). The safety valve should very rarely release pressure, only when pressure switch malfunctions and allows pressure to reach up to 160psi. The tank will hold over 300psi so dont worry about the 160psi safety. I am not sure about your exact model number or brand, however most small compressors work the same and share similar parts. For manuals to other similar compessors to to www.dewalt.com. Here you will find manuals to dewalt and porter cable compressors. I prefer to use generic replacement parts from www.grainger.com or from Lowes Lumber. These parts will cost less than factory replacement. If you need to replace the pressure switch, use SquareD brand from grainger. Watch fitting sizes and pressure range. Good Luck on your repair.
