Re: windows recovery disk with safe mode
Try this. While you are in Windows click on Start>programs>accessories>system tools then click on system restore. You will be asked to choose a date, choose a date before this started happening it should reset your computer to that date. In the meantime, yes, you need to get a copy of your operating system from www.microsoft.com so you can fix problems in the future.

Sounds like you have a corrupted Windows Update. Unfortunately if safe mode is not working, then your only option is to re-install the OS. Usually Acer laptops these days don't come with recovery disks. Instead they have a recovery partition built right in to the hard drive. Check in the manual for the hotkey to press to start the system restore when the system is booting up.
Windows is corrupted beyond repair, you will have to reinstall it and return the laptop to factory condition. Use the recovery disk that came with the laptop when you bought it an follow the instructions from the manual to the letter.
Try to use the last known good configuration the issue should be fixed.. If afforadable try to get a external DVDdrive.. If not try to get one from friends.. Nothing is working.. call acer they will take your computer and reinstall the OS ....
Did your system come with any software? I know when I bought my aspireone it did not. However, You can purchase a thumbdrive with at least 4 gb of space and if you have a copy of windows xp of the same version as that which is loaded on your aspireone (should be windows xp home edition) and you can use a program like magicISO to create a copy of the windows xp cd onto the thumbdrive.
Hope this helps, and I would be more than happy to give you more specific support as needed.
if you had the recovery disk it would not clear the c drive it would just set it back to when you got it but the programs would still be there this computer i a,m on know had trhe same thing done to it and i was able to recover it without losing any info if you can get into bios and set it back to defaut or fail safe options you may be able to get going from there
