Generally oil spots are from leaking transmission fluid, and depending on age ofg machine may or may not be worth repairing

f you use cold water wash and rinses regularly it may have an accumulation of un-dissolved detergent, dirt/grime and body oils stuck on the inside wall of the outer tub. When washing whites I assume that you are using Hot water and it could be causing some of the accumulation to break loose in small clumps and re-depositing on the clothes.

Oily spots on clothes after washing, no oil or grease before washing, no hard water...where are the spots comming from. Did not happen with old washing machine

sounds like the seal at the base of the tub is allowing oil to leak from the bearing (that is allowing the tub to spin on the motor shaft.
Not much to do unless you are good with tools and can remove the tub and replace the seal. (This is sorta like the seal between the transmission and engine on a car, or around the main motor bearing)

My clothes are being stained by brown/black marks. I think it is an oil leak into the drum. Is it a seal and is it easy to fix? Frigidaire Gallery Model # FWT647GHSO

Spots on clothing in a washer are usually caused by a reaction between detergent and fabric softeners, but to check and see if these spots are petroleum based (oil), try removing the spots with solvent. If the spots will come out with solvent, but not with soap and water, then it could be transmission oil that is leaking into the tub and this is very bad news. This was a common problem on the older GE and Hotpoint washers. Sorry to hear about the problem that you are having and I hope this helped. Best wishes.

Spots on clothes

By spots I'm guessing that this is a permanent mark on the cloth. If that's the case, you are possibly putting concentrated liquid bleach into the machine...it is being added and causing the spots. Solution is to dilute the bleach or other concentrated cleaner. If you're adding it manually through a hopper...add it later in the cycle.

If the spots are black...you may have a bearing leak into the machine. Repair is a big job.
