SOURCE: ge propane kitchen range changed to natural gas.can't get the ove

Hi, Did you flip the cap on top of the regulator? As far as adjusting the bake/broil orfices, all you will nee to do is turn them 2 full turns counter clockwise. Start the oven and watch the flame. It should have blue tips as much as possible.
You might have to raise or lower the orfice adjustment as needed.
I hope this helps you. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

I've just converted my stove from natural gas to propane and the oven and broiler flame are both to high, how can I lower them?

When converting from natural gas to propane you have to switch the regulator to propane. then on most modern stoves you have to turn the orifice hoods down to adjust for the higher pressure of propane. there are some stoves that you have to purchase a propane conversion kit with different orifices for the burners and oven burners.

I got a GE gas range (model JGBS22) from a co-worker. She had converted it from gas to propane. I just had a plumber hook it up to natural gas but, even with the conversion manual, he couldn't change the...

There should be a set of orifices for each burner as well as the oven and broiler. When the unit was converted to propane, these orifices should have been replaced and the ones for gas put in with the conversion kit installation information. The kit should have been reattached near the pressure regulator.

If the kit was missing the orifices, then, yes, you are missing pieces. Check with your coworker if the conversion kit was missing. If you have the kit, it can be easily done by any appliance installer (or repair person) licensed for handling NG. (At least on our range, the conversion kit installation was straight forward. Every orifice was clearly labeled with the labels different for each burner and for the gas/LP kits (ABCD (NG) vs MNOP (LP)) .) The regulator is the only part that switched for LP or NG without the kit.

As I recall, the only tools we needed for the top burners were a small wrench (10 mm) and a small flat blade screwdriver. Remove one orifice and put in the appropriate replacement. Then adjust the burners so that they didn't blow out when the oven was opened or quickly turned from high to low (for the simmer burner). The oven and broiler took a bit longer. Several screws had to be removed to get at the orifices. Then the air flow had to be adjusted for the incoming gas.

I hope this helps.

We need a model number to be specific.
Check the gas regulator and make sure the pressure cap has been set for propane. Most of them are turned over to put more pressure inside the valve.
If so. Check the air shutter on the bake gas tube and adjust for the best color flame.
Also tighten the bake burner orifice with a 1/2 inch wrench.

Although the natural gas orifices for the stove top burners were replaceable with propane orifices, many ovens/broilers orifices are simply adjustable using a 1/2" open end wrench to convert from one gas to another. Some brands are adjustable and some have to be changed out. It depends on the make and model. Do you have your owner's manual? It contains detailed info on converting your unit. I included a link below to choose from the list to download your manual. You'll need your exact model # listed on your stove. Pull out the bottom drawer and look at the data plate for the model # and then find it on the list for the correct manual. Douglas

The oven flame comes into the oven around the oven bake cover and all burners and broiler have a perfect flame. this is a brand new oven

Are you on natural gas or propane? If you are on propane did you have it converted form natural gas. Due to the difference in orface size you will be getting more gas flow then needed. If it was converted you need to contact the store and advise them it has a possible gas valve problem.

Oven burner flame is low

0000000.jpgOn top of that safety valve is a nut. Get a good fitting wrench. Turn on the oven and use that good fitting wrench on that nut. Turn it counterclockwise till the flame comes up about midways of the flame spreader. Don't get the flames too high. Midways of the spreader now. LOL

Whirlpool 465 Gas Stove conversion from propane to gas?

In most cases the orifices can be removed and reversed to convert from lp to natural gas. Sometimes you will need a conversion kit and you will need to look this up by model number. 465 is the oven capacity not the model number. You can locate the model number by pulling the drawer out and looking behind it. Please let me know the model and I can let you know what kit you need. Also I should let you know that your gas company is the most qualified to convert your range, and this conversion should not be attempted by anyone who is not qualified. If this conversion is not completed properly you could be risking your life and the lives of everyone in your home, so make sure you know what you are doing!! Or get a qualified person. Good luck and please be careful making any changes to your gas appliances. Please dont forget to rate me also.

Sounds like that ignitor is weak.  When the ignitor glows it builds up resistance to the gas valve for gas to come in.  If it sometimes takes 10 min then the proper resistance isn't there and this will give you that gas smell.  Replace the ignitor and this should solve your problem.  Can expect to pay $80 - $100 for the part.
