Cannot play videogames

I'll assume that your notebook is otherwise working fine. Generally most laptops will play simple games with no problems. They do not have the hardware to run something demanding such as Call of Duty. I don't know what version of windows you have but I think the 530 should have come with Vista. Vista is a wee bit of a resource hog so that is one problem. You only have 512mb of ram and that really isn't enough to run Vista let alone something demanding such as a game. The 530 supports up to 2gb of system ram and that is important for a few reasons. First you need to have enough to let Vista run properly and that will use everything you can give it. If you could get it over 1gb you would notice a substantial increase in performance. The last and biggest problem is the video hardware. In this laptop is uses shared memory. This means it does not have dedicated fast video ram but instead relies on the using the system ram. So while you might have 512 of system ram the video card will take probably about 64 mb of that. If you update it to say 2gb then this can increase to a max of I think 225mb. That sounds like a lot but it is shared slower system ram. You do find new gamer laptops with high spec video chips and dedicated vram but even those do not perform as well as a desktop with the same or smaller amount of video ram. Unlike a desktop you cannot change out the video on a laptop so what you have your are stuck with. When it comes to gaming especially something like first person shooters the video card is the key to everything. I have a dual core laptop with 4gb of ram a very stripped down version of windows and 1gb of system ram dedicated to the video. I also have a old 2.8ghz single core pentium with 1gb of system ram but it has a new 1gb video card (important as these have a video processor and do not use the system one) and this does play call of duty at 60-100fps and anything else I can find to try on it. I tried the video card as an $75 experiment as I was about to replace the system. I didn't do that. It makes that much of a difference.

I hesitate to call these fixes as they really won't get you what you want out of any laptop with similar hardware like yours. That really isn't possible because of the slower system ram and shared ram probllems. The first thing is to max out the ram. It will cost a few dollars but then you can max out the size of the shared video ram.Nothing else will have as much effect as doing this to your laptop. Turn off anything you can in vista to speed up performance. It probably has most of it turned off now due to the low ram you have. Disable anything you don't need running. Fir instance office and adobe will load speed loaders at boot up. They are supposed to make these pop open faster. Disable them and you won;t notice the difference for those programs but you will in the system resources they consume. Also make sure anything like msn or yaho do not start with windows. msmessenger especially can at times be a real hog for resources. There are very few programs that ever need to load something at start up to run. Most are for convenience and each then steals resources. Not a big deal if you are not gaming and have plenty to spare but in your case very important. If you are dealing with simple games such as web based card games then usually the issue is with jave. You may need to download and install the java package from sun. As I mentioned you can't really make it into a hardcore gamer machine but hopefully you can see what the problems are to doing that with almost any laptop (not just yours).

Meh. Run a registry cleaning program (or the free Anvir process monitor to find out what's eating memory) and see if it doesn't clear up; though I'm inclined to say you should install 2 to 4GB (even after-market stuff since it's DDR that only has to run 200MHz, (to feed one 800MHz bus)) and see if the thing's new performance level improves your life enough to cover the cost. Easy victory either way.

RAM QUESTION!!

Greetings my friend, regarding on your problem you will notice that if your computer/Laptop need to have additional RAM when your computer runs a program large enough to consume your RAM. You can add RAM anytime if you want to make your computer runs/loads program faster. RAM is used as a temporary storage of your running program or software so therefore if you have a large size of RAM then you can load large and lots of programs in your computer/Laptop with out experiencing log or slow in executing some of your request programs or applications. Also if your current RAM is not functioning well just like it is always restart your computer or dumping some programs and continues beep sound of your System Unit when you restart your Computer then that's the time you need to have a new RAM for your Computer/Laptop.
