Ridgid will replace the motor for free if it failed under normal use. Do not dismantle the motor. Just contact Ridgid and they will insturct on how to ship it to them and how they replace the unit.

How do I remove the filter from a Rigid 4 gal portable wet/dry vac

James the attached link/video shows filter just pulls off. I also put a link to the manual and it show the filter held on with large plastic nut, which would have to be removed first.

I am unable to take old filter off my Ridgid portable 4 gallon vac.

You press in the black cap in the middle of the filter while you pull up on the black "handles" around the edge of the filter. It just pops off.

I need a manual for ridgid wet/dry vacs model #wd16500

Hello,

I was unable to find the model WD16500 instruction manual anywhere online. In fact I did even find a link to that products owners manual, but when I clicked through the page no longer exists on Ridgid's site. I was able to find the parts diagram for the WD16500, and the instruction manual for the WD16600 which is also a 16 Gallon Detach Wet/Dry Vac, also with a detachable blower, and the model that even replaced the WD16500.

I also left you the number to Ridgid if you'd like to contact them, they may be able to mail you a paper copy of the instruction booklet.

I hope this helps you:

Phone Number for the Ridgid Company:

If this was helpful, please be so kind to rate my answer as helpful, this is what keeps me coming back to Fixya to help people with their vacuum related questions. Thanks alot, I really do appreciate it.

How do you get to the motor for the ridgid wet dry vac model #WD 12450

the manufacture does not replace the brushes...depending hon how old it is you might be able to get the powerhead replaced. The motor is made in China. I heard of some guy cross refrencing the motor brushes at ACE hardware if you can believe it

Cannot find a filter

In a pinch a discarded flannel pajama sleeve can be employed as a filter on your shop-vac. grab up an end and twist it together and fasten with a piece of wire. the open part slips over the cage of the vacuum and fastens with a large flat rubber band. I'll try to find a source for a filter for you and will get back to you.
