Question about Kitchen Ranges
The "precise simmer" (back right) burner will often light and then inexplicably go out within a few seconds. HOWEVER, the gas is still flowing which has caused a hazard on many occasions. I know now to sit and watch the burner for a while after lighting to make sure but this still causes me concern for when others are cooking or if I might forget. We bought this new home after it had been on the market for quite some time. The warranty had already expired by the time we moved in. Now, GE doesn't even sell this model. Advice?
Check the "Orifice Spud" to be sure that it doesn't have a partial blockage.

no gas flow sounds like a bad gas regulato on the stove. as for the 5 year old ge profile with ignitors not working, you need a part called a spark modual

If your top burners are not lighting or will not work, it is possible that the burners have become dirty or wet. Please follow the troubleshooting directions below before calling service:
If you hear clicking or sparking, go to Step 2.
If you do not, check your circuit breakers. If the circuit breaker is ok, we recommend that you schedule service by calling 1-800-432-2737 or schedule service online.
First remove the burner grate, cap, and head. Use a needle or paper clip to poke through the holes on the burner head. Re-assemble and try the burner.
Remove the burner grate, cap, and head. Even if it looks clean, wipe the tip of the electrode with a clean, dry paper towel and PRESS IT DOWN. Re-assemble and try the burner, again.
Check to see if the burner works, If not, then go to Step 3.
Check to see if the burner works, If not, then go to Step 4.

Welcome to Fixya
You said, have a Whirlpool electric range (model rf363pxpt0) with standalone burners - the burner power indicator light stays lit whether the heat control knob is on or off, there is no heat coming from the burner on or off. You pulled the burner from the receptacle and one of the tabs broke off and stayed in the receptacle. You removed the tab and made sure no pieces remained in the receptacle then bought a replacement burner, no change. You put the replacement burner in the back burner of the same size and had heat within 10 seconds. You changed out the burner with the one that had been in the back of the range, no heat. As long as the breaker to the range is on the power light stays lit but no power to that one burner only.
What is the model number and the age of your range?
Waiting for your reply.

SOURCE: Oven and broiler will not light.
You've probably done this by now since your message is May (makes us a May-December couple??) but wanted to write that the transformer that produces the park for ignition has failed. I don't know how accessible it is in your unit, if you check on Sears website under Parts with your model # in hand, they could well have an illustrated breakdown of your range which would give you an idea of how difficult the replacement might be.

Take a very small wire and clean out the pilot holes. Then find the pilot flame adjustment screw and re-set your pilot to 1/4 inch flame.
