Just switched from verizon modem with linskey router to verizon fios router/modem. now now no internet connection with notebook. notebook shows available network even states connected but everytime i pick a browser, google, verizon, etc states none work offline. had router tested by verizon, rebooted etc, shows laptop connection on desktop as part of netwook but no internet connection . HELP
HI If the browser shows working offline and wireless is connected fine then it could be an issue where work offline is checked in the browser. In internet explorer 6 its found on File in the menu, if work offline is already checked, check it again to remove the check mark and then try, if its internet explorer 7 its found on tools, the same steps and in firefox under file, Also try this step as well, if its internet explorer go to tools-internet options-and in internet options-go to connections tab-there is dial up and networking box-remove the dial up connections from the box-and check the one never dial a connection
also check the firewalls and antivirus programs, post your results.
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

The Xfinity Cable Service is also an Internet service provider then you need a cable modem with a built-in wireless router. Check with Xfinity and if they are also an Internet Service provider then they can also supply this cable modem/wireless router.
FIOS and DSL use different modems and or gateway devices. Sounds like you were using a DSL gateway device with networking setup and when you moved to FIOS, the tech did not duplicate your network on your new FIOS gateway. OR you had a 3rd party router e.g. Linksys that was removed from the setup when FIOS was installed.
Either way, Verizon is who you should contact. Just tell them your network went down after you moved from DSL to FIOS. Dont mention Microsoft or Livewebtv.
Several resoning behind this one. One check your firewall setting, and make sure your wireless card have permission. Two, make sure that your mac filtering is turn off. Your wirless network has it own mac address and it is not in the router as to be aloud, it will block it. Three if your wireless network has a password, make sure you enter in right, it is case sensative. Four make certain that you have your wireless device is connected to the modem, or modem wireless combine. Finally, if you were running wired, try to clean the temperary ineternet filess off.
Things you can do to try and improve the connectivity are:
1. Update the system BIOS to the latest version
2. Update the wireless driver to the latest version (Both are available at support.dell.com)
3. Try a different channel for wireless on your router (Most default to channel 6, so try 1 or 11)
if you are up to it you might wont to swith to verizon Fios they have same things like chart that includes internet, tv, and phone. There modems are easy to set up all you have to do on there modem is enter the ip adress enter the defalt user name and password and change it to one you can remember and you would be online. One other thing most of there routers have built in wirless network asses which is protected by a WEP password which is located on the botom of the router.
To check if you qualify go to www.verizon.com and lock for there to enternet choces you wold need to enter you home phone # or adress to see if it is avaliabe.
i hope this would help.
