If you take the back of the tv off, there are 2 boared on the left side, sometimes it is one, you will see ribbon connectors that goe from those boards- int the panel, alot of times you can umplug those, then plug them back in, it solves the prob sometimes, if it doesnt, turn the tv on, then unplug it- while still on, after 20 seconds- plug it back in, it will do a reboot, and turn itself back on, if the line is still there, it is most likely a defective panel, if your not under warinty, unfortunatily- it is cheeper to buy a new tv, hope this helps a little

I have a sony plasma 50 inch i am getting a few lines in the middle of screen and they are there when i turn on the tv even though i do not have the cable on

Are they very thin vertical lines? If so, you most likely have a bad plasma panel. A picture would help to confirm the diagnosis

Samsung Plasma ps-42s5h has two black lines running vertical with green strip in the middle

Ok we have to resolve the extent of the problem before diagnosing it. Does the black line/green bar show on all inputs and the tuner? Is it visible in the OSD (on screen display)? if yes to all of these questions, it could be a panel drive problem or a bad plasma panel. A picture would help diagnosis

Green line running vertically along the edge of picture

If its a LCD projection TV (such as Sony Wega, Hitachi, Epson, Philips, and some Panasonic, some Mitsubishi), and the green image is in the whole screen or just one part as a blob or a line. Is most probably that one of your LCD Color Filters is damaged (burned out or starting to get busted), I don’t know if you can just replace the color filter, I believe you need to change the whole light engine system or the optical block. There are some places around, I found some on ebay but you should definitely try on discountdashmerchantdotcom their price range $260.00 - $330.00

Line going thru the tv

Josh, When you say a line going through your TV is it a line from left to right or top to bottom? Is there a picture present and this is a line imposed on the picture or just a line by itself? Let me guess, you have no picture just a horizontal line (from left to right) across the middle of the screen. If so that is collapse of the vertical deflection and most likely caused by failure of the vertical IC and possibly linked to some bad caps in theat circuit as well. It's not an expensive repair, just find a good reputable shop. You might also mention, or if they ask, that your unit is a lighbox. Meaning that when they go to repair it the insides of the unit separate from the cabinet for easier access.. Good Luck Bill
