Re: Garage Door Opener Lights
Some craftman operator don't have that feature. Are both photo eye lights green? Feature not available. If the photo eyes are yellow and green feature should be avilable. The operator needs to have a three button wall station. With the light on the operator off press and hold the "light" button for about a minute until the light flashes.

Check the light sockets on either side of the garage door opener and make sure there is no corrosion on the contacts. If you see some corrosion unplug the garage door opener and scrape off the contact. Give that a try and lets see what happens.
It sounds like the force adjustment may be set too high. Check this:
force adjustments control the pressure used to open and close the
door. A new garage door opener from the factory is set to the lowest
possible force adjustment. If you have a properly balanced door, the
forces required to open and close the door should be minimal.
force adjustments are usually located on the rear of the garage door
opener and/or under one of the light lenses, If your opener has two
lights. If you have lights on the side of your opener, the force
adjustment will be located under the right light lens. The force
adjustments are labeled with an arrow indicating open or close and
numbered 1 to 9, with one being the lowest force and nine the
highest. The force adjustments can only turn 260 degrees, or ¾ of a
complete turn. Changes to the forces should be done in 10-degree
increments. Please remember that too much force will interfere with
the proper operation of the safety reversal system. Do not increase
the force beyond the minimum required to close the door. Do not use
the force adjustments to compensate for a sticking, binding, or
Check to make sure that the lasers at the bottom of the door on each side are lined up. Sometimes it is easy to bump them and then they will not see each other causing the garage door to not work. Worth a try.
Sounds like a loose connection inside the unit. When you move the light fixture on the motor and get it to light, the contact is reestablished, possibly being a loose wire. With the vibration from the operation of the opener, the connection will lose its contact again and the motor ceases to function. Have an electrician give it a look or disable it's power so that you can remove the cover(s) and investigate yourself.
From the manual:
Security+Light Feature: Lights will also turn on when someone walks through the open garage door. With a Premium Control Console, this feature may be turned off as follows: With the opener lights off, press and hold the light button for 10 seconds, until the light goes on and off again. To restore this feature, start with the opener lights on, then press and hold the light button for 10 seconds until the light goes off, then on again.
