Did you have the TV plugged into a surge suppressor/line conditioner or was it just plugged into the outlet?

    yes a surge protector

  • follettejean Nov 30, 2012

we turned everything off and left off for awhile and still just a red light

  • Boz Nov 30, 2012

Probably a weak or dead surge protector so you may have a bad power supply in your TV now.

  • follettejean Nov 30, 2012

we only had the tv for less then a week. and everything else plugged in there works still.

  • follettejean Nov 30, 2012

so do we have to take tv in for repair?

  • Boz Nov 30, 2012

Yes, do not mention there was a power outtage. The TV manufacturers can deny your warranty because of this, however they are building less robust power supplies that don't do as well of a job as previous designs so they are more prone to power issues.

that sucks but thank you for your help

SOURCE: ILO 2706 TV WONT TURN ON

This TV might have been affected by the power outage even if it was not ON at that moment. There is a standby voltage still present even when OFF and connected to the AC line.
There might be different failures on this TV:
1. The power supply might be defective after the power outage.
2. The main board could also be defective since the power supplies for today's TVs are not well regulated and once the voltage getting to the power supply increases, the standby voltage voltage will also increase damaging voltage sensitive components like the microprocessor or memory circuitry.

Let me know if you require further assistance.

Hello,

The power supply board of the television is dead, u know basic electronics' and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.

Tv won't power up after power went out

Most likely your TV's power supply was damaged with the power surge. You will need to take it to a repair place and have the supply checked out and find out the cost versus the value of the TV. I hope this helps.

** TV won't turn on.** No picture or sound. Please Help !

If the red light won't come on it is not getting power.First, try plugging it in to a different outlet,or unplug one of the gadgets you know is working and plug the tv in there. You are simply switching. If you know that there is power coming from the outlet and it still won't come on then you'll have to check the cord;don't go much farther than that without expert help.

Why wont my tv turn on

Hello
Do any indicator LED at it front panel lights up? If lights up, and the TV won't turn ON, the fault is with its internal circuit board. If not, the fault is with its power regulator board.
This is the picture to the power board to your tV.2_7_2012_4_24_00_pm.jpg

Power in house went out. T.V. wont turn on.

Did you have a surge protector on the TV? Have you tried unplugging it for 5 minutes, if not try that. If it still won't work contact your local electrical power provider and start a claim for damages from the power outage.

I had moved to another state and my tv sat for a couple of months in a temp controlled room. I plugged it in but when I turned the tv on I had a picture for about thirty seconds heard a like a sizzling...

usually after 4 or 5 yrs EHT ( transformer that supplies voltage to tube ) becomes weak - then TV won't get ON.. means no picture no sound ..but LED blinks - (sometimes '' garrrr '' like sound comes...that is from EHT )........ in some TVs along with EHT 1 or 2 components like resistor, transistors, etc will also gets deffective ............... so solution is TV circuit board has to be checked to find whether only EHT is deffective or other components are also deffective - price of EHT will be between Rs.250 (US$ 5) to Rs.600 ( US$ 12) ........iam from bangalore (09986222774, sathyavijayasarathibabu@ymail.com ) .....i don't have any idea about EHT component's price & service charge in your area........this problem cannot be solved by user unless user is a technical person having idea about components (resistors, transistors,diodes,...etc..), having multimeter , soldering iron & other tools...so my suggestion call TV service engineer.............TUBE IS FINE
