Location of freezer thermistor in a Kenmore side by side refrigerator

I have solved my problem - The thermistor on the freezer side enters the freezer cabinet at the top right, through the damper cutout. You will have to remove the air diffuser from the top of the cabinet to see anything. It is then threaded down into the right side shelf bracket holder, just pull the black wire out of the bracket holder and you'll see it. In order to replace the thermistor, you must remove the damper from the refrigerator side. There is NO documentation on this in the Kenmore parts diagrams, I took everything apart to find it.

SOURCE: I have a Kenmore coldspot side by side- not cooling properly

Setting it to 5 is what the manufacturer recommends. If you set it to 1 and the frig is still not cold, then you probably have a faulty cold control (thermostat)

SOURCE: Kenmore side by side is not getting cold or freezing

If the refrigerator isn't cool, you need to answer some questions, then see if the compressor is running.
First, answer these questions:
Is the refrigerator completely dead?
If so, see “It's stopped completely.”

The compressor is a football-sized case with no apparent moving parts. It's on the outside of the refrigerator at the back near the bottom. If it is humming or making a continuous noise and your refrigerator is still not cooling, there may be a more serious problem with one or more of several different components, we recommend contacting a qualified appliance repair technician for further help.

If the compressor is not running but you do have power to the refrigerator, there may be a problem with one or more of these:
The compressor
The Thermostat
The overload, relay, or capacitor
The defrost timer
The condenser fan motor

The freezer and the fridge are cooled by the same system, air is moved to the fridge by a fan from the freezer, either the circulation fan is defective or the fridge thermostat is defective.

Check ur cold control thermostat, ur thermistors in both fridge and freezer ( they should be checked for both ohms and for amount of current being put out as per ur model ), ur air flow vent from freezer to fridge.( to make sure it opens and closes without any restrictions) On thermistors check for A close circuit and amount of ohms not just an Ohm reading. As per ur model. Most should atleast show 1200 ohms. Also Check door seals for leakage. check ur fan and air flow damper vent too

Defrost timer

The defrost timer is part of the electronic control baord located on the back of the refrigerator. If the freezer is not defrosting check the thermistor on the evaporator(freezer) coils. It can cause the control board to thing it doesn'y need defrosting. a common problem

Use google to find a place that supplies whirlpool spares, tell them the model of the freezer and which thermistor you want, then ask them how much for a thermistor.

Kenmore fridge

i would suggest if you can take a look at the damper control at the refrigerator side. it is located at the middle. it regulates the air coming from the freezer section and dependent on the signal coming from the thermistor... so that is the next thing to check. if the thermistor in the refrigerator side is working fine.

i hope i was able to help...
