Question about Computers & Internet
I want to install Windows Xp on this laptop. is this possible ?? how ??
I'm quite sure you can install windows xp on your current laptop, but computer specifications do matter. Anyway, this is how you would do it:
1) Insert the windows xp cd or dvd and restart your computer.
2) When starting up your computer, you should get a screen with the manufactorer's logo. There usually is a bit of text in one of the corners of the screen that sais which key to press to go to the "boot menu" (unless you're on an apple computer at the moment, in that case google for "Boot Camp windows xp".)
3) Press this key while you see the screen mentioned above, and you will see a menu in which you'll have to navigate with the arrow keys.
4) As this is different for various manufacturers, look around in the menu a bit until you find something along the lines of "boot from cd"
5) Make sure you activate this, and restart your computer.
6) Now your computer should start up from the windows xp CD.
7) Follow the instructions of the installation.
8) Repeat step 2-4 and deactivate the boot from cd.
9) Done. You should have windows xp installed on your machine.

SOURCE: i want to install windows xp sp2
It's a relatively simply procedure, 1st download all of the necessary drivers for your laptop from Compaq's website under the support section. You'll want the drivers for Window's XP. Either burn these drivers to a CD or place them on a flash drive. Also if you already have documents or data on the laptop that you would like to keep you'll need to back that up as well to either a CD/DVD or a flash drive.
Next you'll need a Windows XP installer disk. Place the disk in your laptop and reboot. The system should prompt you, asking you if you'd like to boot off of the CD press any key. Hit any key and the computer should boot from the XP CD. The system will take a while as it loads up the installer shell. If the system does not boot from the CD you will need to go into the BIOS or CMOS and change the boot order for the computer to make the CDROM or DVD ROM the 1st boot device. The 1st prompt on the installer should be a license agreement, hit F8 to continue. The next steps will pretty much be up to you. Things like where you want to install windows XP, do you want to format the drive, etc. This sounds like your 1st install so you may want to leave everything as default. Windows should detect your Vista install and by default install it as a seperate installation allowing you to boot into either OS.
After the OS has prepared the hard disk and copied all files the computer will reboot and will boot into a installer kernel and will prompt you for even more selections. This process will take longer than the initial portion and most of these settings you can leave at default as well. When this part is complete the system will reboot again and your installation of XP should be complete.
When the system boots into windows it will ask you to create a user name, create a user name or multiple ones. Put in your driver CD or flash drive and proceed to restore your files and install your drivers. That's the revised version of it anyway.

First download all of the Xp drivers , unless you have then on a disk already. (Link provided below)
Next: Insert the windows Xp disk into the cd driver. When it says ;"OS system found do you want to repair it?" or anythng else say No.
If will say reformat driver? Say Yes. Let it run giving it all the information requested including the registeration numbers that came with the Win Xp disk when you bought the disk by itself. Install all of the drivers, one at a time .
