When I start up my laptop (Dell Inspiron E1505), the "Log On to Windows" screen comes up as usual. My password is just , so when I hit OK, it goes to "loading your persoanl settings", as usual. But then it automatically goes to "logging off", it saves my personal settings, then brings ne back to the "Log on to Windows" screen.

This had been working fine ...

Any advice would be greatly approeciated!

Let me guess you type in your password and user name it then logs off. Have you check the recharger it may not be you laptop but the power plug not connecting there for you laptop had ran out of battery. Check recharger as I had the same problem and I replaced the plug recharger and it worked fine.

How do I unlock voicemail on a hand set?

Enter the admin mailbox (usually FEATURE 981). Follow the prompts to enter the mailbox change menu for the box you need to reset and select the "reset password" function. This unlocks the box and sets the password to 0000, which will then prompt the user to enter a new password when the mailbox is opened.

I lost, or dont remember, the password to my Cisco router

Hello,
routers have a way to be reset when this happens. It is usually done by pressing a button on it for a few seconds. This kind of button usually needs to be pressed by a pen tip or unfolded paper clip. Once the reset process is completed, your router will either have no password assign for th default administrator account or have it reset to a default which is mentioned in your router configuration, usually "admin".
If you provide us with the exact model number of your router, which can be found on the router itself, we can provide you with the exact location or the reset button and what will be the credentials to log in after the reset.

Whenever I tried to install the program I get a message saying that the messenger has stopped working and needs to close. When I let windows find a solution it never does. I am using Vista Ultimate. I had...

Hi...
The first step you should try is to uninstall by going into (control panel > add remove program) the mesanger and download the windows messanger.
http://download.live.com/
and reinstall it.
If that doesn't work the windows have to be repaired, you should have the windows CD for that..
Configure your computer to start from the CD-ROM drive. For more information about how to do this, refer to your computer's documentation or contact your computer manufacturer. Then insert your Windows XP Setup CD, and restart your computer.
1.
When the Press any key to boot from CD message is displayed on your screen, press a key to start your computer from the Windows XP CD.
2.
Press ENTER when you see the message To setup Windows XP now, and then press ENTER displayed on the Welcome to Setup screen.
3.
Do not choose the option to press R to use the Recovery Console.
4.
In the Windows XP Licensing Agreement, press F8 to agree to the license agreement.
5.
Make sure that your current installation of Windows XP is selected in the box, and then press R to repair Windows XP.
6.
Follow the instructions on the screen to complete Setup.

Let me know
Thanks

Ristricted logging onto server when server is off

Hi
Thanks for the background info, this makes it easier for me to see what you need.
You need to disable your guest account if you havnt already done so.
The user is logging on with a cached version of the logon information, this is useful for when the server goes down but not in your case as you need to prevent this.
Another worrying aspect is that you allow all your users to log on using the same password. Very bad from a security aspect anyhow. It is better to change at least every 30 days. If they moan they will get used to it soon enough.
Go into group policy again and computer configuration>windows settings>security settings>local policies>security options and look for interactive logon:number of previous logons to cache - set this to 0. If the domain controller is not available and the logon info is not cached they cannot logon to domain.
Group policy can be overruled at the client end if they have admin priviledges so you may have to set this on the client pc also. But you need to test to see if it is required there. I have not used that particular policy but it should be ok just on the server. Your users dont have admin rights do they? Anyway good luck. You can set this by applying it to an OU or domain wide but if you want to target just this one pc then maybe if you put it in its own ou and apply it just there.
You need to create new policies rather than modifying the domain one and keep each policy for specific purposes so that applying them to ou's is easier, ie internet options policy, firewall policy, working hours policy etc.
Regards
Julie
