I Have A ASUS A7 Series A7V With No Sound

Check the physical speakers to make sure they are turned on and the volume is turned up. Also make sure the speaker line is connected to the light green port in the back of the computer.

Check the Audio Sound settings on the computer. Make sure the volume is turned up and not muted. Click Start/Control Panel and look for Audio or Sound. Check the audio properties to make sure everything is ok. You can also click on the megaphone at the bottom right near the time to get into your Audio or Sound properties.

Check the sound or audio properties in the Device Manager to make sure there are no problems. Click Start/Control Panel then click System or System and Performance and look for the Device Manager and open it to check the audio or sound drivers.

You can always download and reinstall your Audio drivers.

Try using VLC as your player. Go to www.google.com andin the search box type "download vlc" (without the quotes). Look for the Video Lan download from site www.videolan.org/vlc Downloadand install it. It downloads and installs in 3 minutes or so. It'sa very fast player, smooth and it can play just about any type of dvd formatsand media. It's totally FREE.

Good day,
1. Click Start Menu, click Control Panel 2. Double click Device Manager 3, Expand Sound, video and GC
With Drivers pcsyke_1.jpg

Without Drivers
pcsyke.png 4. If your audio device has no sound driver, click the link below and install. Note: Choose the right driver for your Operating system on the drop down menu and the right vendor. Windows Vista driver will work as Windows 7, choose x86 if your using a 32bit OS.
Audio
However, the line-in connection to your sound card is muted by default. This means that if you plug an audio device into this port, it will not produce any sound on your computer until you enable sound for the line-in connection. pcsyke_0.png
To enable sound for the line-in connection
  1. Open Audio Devices and Sound Themes by clicking the Start button 4f6cbd09-148c-4dd8-b1f2-48f232a2fd33.png, clicking Control Panel, clicking Hardware and Sound, and then clicking Sound.

  2. Click the Playback tab, click Speakers, and then click Properties.

  3. Click the Levels tab, and then, under Line In, click the Mute button 6b62e2ae-431c-4fb5-8905-aaaea5b445a4.png to enable sound for the line-in connection.

My computer got corrupted by a cut to my external telephone line. I managed to put everything back but the sound devices seem to be missing - How do I put the sound back in?

I think it might be the problem of the sound driver, if that is the case reinstall your sound driver and you will get the sound on your PC.

Line sound input breaking up

How? Did it work before? Windows? Version? System load? Why line in? (Most people never use it.) What type of Sound Card? Is it a duplex capable driver? Right click sound icon at lower right and check sound properties. Many newer systems use oem creative labs cards or "AC97" which use software emulation of sound hardware, and a system without enough horsepower will have poor sound. Sound properties tab for many cards will allocate more computer power to sound at the expense of video or applications. Duplex means recording (inputting) sound at the same time playback is enabled, like for videoconferencing.
