You need to look on the model number plate it will tell you how many oz of refrigerant it will take and what kind. you will need to recover old refrigerant after you install new compressor and a dryer pull a 300 micron vacuum on the system then weigh in the right amount of refrigerant per the information plate on machine.

SOURCE: Water supply to ref is turned-off, will that damage the ice maker

no there will be no problem the valve works with the water pressure. on the electronic side the switch just tunrs the power on and off to the valve, no problem there, thats what is made to do.

SOURCE: My ice maker is making

NOTE: This
is a multi-solution answer since I don't have all the tech from your question to pinpoint your problem
But the solution is in here generically, if you read and study the solutions very, very carefully.
Check Temp inside freezer. It has to be down to about 10 or 15 degrees
This can cause slow ice making if its too high even tho its freezing everything else at 25 degrees
See if water is in icemaker.
Pour water in Ice Maker and wait to see if it ejects.
If it ejects thenyou need to replace water valve in rear bottom of fridge(Its the part that
attaches to water line out of wall)
If it doesn't eject then it is a faulty Ice Maker.
If its leaking or no water at icemaker or door either one, then the valve at the rear bottom of ref needs replacing
First I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if freezer control is turned WARMER, which makes the Ref. colder
Also if it is getting drinking water to the door but not to the icemaker (or vice versa) Then you need to replace
the water valve at the bottom rear of the fridge. It is a double valve and one side is not working
Also this might be a common Defrost problem, Ice
is not being melted by the defrost system. The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater, heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath

Ice maker not working

what was reset button for? is it something like defrost the unit when press. you said that it is already replaced then likely your problem is with the unit thermostat all ref unit has it and most likely to fail overtime, it is also possible that there is leak on the sealing doors which makes your ice melts faster when the motor stop pumping freon

My ice maker is not making ice. I have water to the valve located near the bottom back of the machine. It doesent appear to be getting through the valve and up to the ice maker. Also, when I moved the unit...

ur fridge might have run out of freon gas since the line that runs thru the valve was detached. the freon gas might have evaporated so there is a need to charge ur unit with new freon. this can be done by an ref and air conditioning technician.

I just replaced the Compressor in my Kitchen aid Ice maker. Charged it to 6.2 pounds of pressure but kitchen aid will not give me the pressures it is supposed to be recharge to. Does anyone know?

Before you charge the system with R-12 freon you should check it for a leak, as with your ice maker it has leak that's why the pressure suppose to be is not reach. It also be clean by flushing R-11 into the system. If you have friend that has technical skill in ref repair ask for help. Better if you find the leak sealed it.
Good luck friend.

General Elec. refrig. about 12 yrs. old. water in bottom of frig., cleaned up, found water a second time.

drain is cloged. at some point the ref section was set too cold. the defrost water from freezer drains through the ref back wall. becaust it was set too cold the drain froze. two ways to fix .... empty unit and unplug for 24 hrs. OR remove back panel, defrost drainrail, remove bottom panel ,remove ice, insert 1/4 inch tube down drain, and squirt very hot water down drain till it is clear of ice..... when defrosted set ref on "3"

I have a FRS26ZSHB FRIGIDAIRE. I replace the ice maker and the valve and it still does not make ice.

do you have water at the dispenser if so when you replaced the icemaker did you replace the harness that clip that usually come with the new item. If not the freezer may not be cold enough for the imkr to freeze properly are the item you put in the freezer soft or take a long time to freeze may have a freon issue

What freon 134A

The freon in most ice makers are R 410a at this time. You will be able to find the type of freon your model has listed most times on a data plate on the rear of the ice maker cabinet and on or near the compressor. R 134a is not always used in production ice machines because it does not freeze water as productive as
R 410a. The type oil in the compressor also will lead you more in the direction of the type of gas. Now If you need to replace the freon or compressor I can help you determine the exact type of freon gas was existing before the change, Let me know if this has answered your question. Thanks, Sea Breeze

hi,

try to steady your thermostat setting to the lowest or not turned at all. more stock in your ref. can help your ice maker not to frozen. if you have less stock in your ref. put some gallons of water. or put your ref near the fire bin but not too close. or with a circulation of hot air
