Hi my brothers ps3 wont work propley with his new samsung hd tv. he's tried both hdmi sockets on the tv but in which ever socket on the tv the hdmi cable is pluged into the picture on the screen always flickrs and sometimes just disappears. what should he do?
When I was having this same problem, all I did was this: The HD television when plug up to the PS3 will see it and asked you to change settings when you click yes the problem is solved. So, start over turn on television then PS3 then choose yes to change settings.

try checking the power plug is in the socket properly
try checking tv is plugged in properly (hdmi cablewill not work with non hd tv)
your ps3 is ruined or just try and hold don the power button to get it to the new tv graphics if you had it on hd and ur trying to get on a non hd...or other way around. ifyou have any more problems send me a message on this site (if you can lol).
any way i probly had the same problem causei bought a ps3 from ebay it use to be on hd tv but i put it on non hd tv. i helddown the power button and it came back to life.
ps you can buy non hd tv cables on ebaay for cheap prices...it's what i did lol
If it was doing it on your old console then its the TV not the PS3.
Causes: HDMI cable (Replace cable), HDMI socket on TV (Get it repaired), If it happens on all HDMI inputs then the video board maybe faulty, Interference - location of PS3 to other equipment.
The first thing to do is move everything else away from your TV except for the PS3, now factory reset the Samsung TV and make sure your firmware is up to date my records show that an update came out in May for your TV, also factory reset the PS3 and setup the HDMI video settings using the wizrad in the PS3, now connect the PS3 through all HDMI inputs to see if its one input or all, if all inputs are the same then the TV maybe faulty.
Well your PS3 Can't connect with your TV to the Samsung, because PS3 Was made HD Blu-Ray. If your TV/Samsung is not supported by High Def. or Blu-Ray, it will not work, you will need a different HDMI Cable, and it should work fine.
Hope this Helped.
Maybe your TV is not made for HD from the Sony Console. Try calling Sony Customer support, then your TV's brand Customer support. That will tell you if your TV Model allows the HD from the PS3. Remember though, PS3 Uses Blu-Ray. So you need Blu-Ray for your TV. Hope this helped.
connect PS3 to TV
select HDMI channel on TV
press AND HOLD power button on PS3 until screen resolution selection page appears.
PS3 should now work.
had this problem, this solved it.
