Question about Computers & Internet
My Asus desktop was off for 4-5 months. When I turned it on the boot up screen says: "Boot disc failure. Insert system disc boot and press enter." I can't find my boot up disc. What else can be done to start using my pc? Thank you J
First - re-seat the hard disk and reboot the computer. If the computer does not boot up then reboot and go into the BIOS configuration to see if the BIOS detects the hard drive. If it doesn't detect the hard drive then it could be faulty.
Then the hard drive needs to be replaced in the computer/laptop, Windows installed and the computer or laptop's device drivers plus your programs etc. to get a functioning computer/laptop again.

Hi You need to make sure that your boot sequence sets to boot from hard drive first. Also, make sure that the hard drive sequence has the hard drive enabled. If this does not work, then let me know so I can give another suggestion.

SOURCE: please help
Try pressing F2 / Del key during startup. That should bring the bios setup. Now Restore that defaults & install OS on your HDD. If you are not using Floppy drive, disable the onboard floppy controller from BIOS.

This is possibly a bad hard drive. If you know the manufacturer of your hard drive you can download diagnostic tools from their site, burn to cd and run diagnostics to check the drive for errors or failure.

SOURCE: Hi. Well there are not
That is probably an harddisk failure. First check the cable , both data and power to the harddisk. make sure your bios is getting the harddisk on its boot menu / first page on bios. if or when HDD is ok and still not booting up the pc, you should consider an operating system reinstall.
and please comment here to let me know the progress.
