SOURCE: hey, i have this sony

It is telling you that the PC videocard resolution is too high, when you boot up insfae mode, the resolution is lower. Does it do the same when attched to another PC? You should set the resolution to the native resolution of the monitor.

It may have pwoer supply, backlights inverter, bad lamp assemblies problem, you need to open it up.
If you are going to DIY and already try the monitor with another PC, and have proper tools and know safety precaution then please read on:
Most common failures in the LCD monitors are bad capacitors (bulging top/seal or leaking) in the power supply (they should be replaced in a set), blown fuses; poor solder joints, failed inverter circuits (blown fuse, shorted transistors, shorted/open transformers), bad lamps (poor solder connections or worn out lamps). You will need to open it up and inspect the inside, see example of failed SONY monitors to get some ideas what to look for: http://s807.photobucket.com/albums/yy352/budm/
Post back what you see inside so we can guide you further and it will help out other people in the future also.

SOURCE: No picture Display when turned

This is not an inverter problem. The inverter only powers the fluorescent lamps in the back of the LCD panel.

It is probably a fault in the LCD data decoder circuit or a failing connector between the decoder circuit board and the glass LCD panel. If you took it in to a shop, they would probably charge you a full hour's labor minimum - compare that with the price of a new LCD monitor.

No display, clipping sound appear

The clipping sound is the internal safety switch that keep shutting down the monitor.
It means there is an internal problem on the main board (overvoltage, bad component , short).
Try unplugging power cord and leaving it unplugged two or three hours, this will reset ICs by draining power completely from circuits, it is called hard reset, it rarely works.
CRT monitors waste up to 15 times more energy than TFT screen, if your CRT starts giving troubles, then it is a good time for upgrading it to a new TFT.

Make sure your VGA cable is seated properly. If it is seated OK, it could be the start of a problem with a backlight. When a backlight goes bad, it typically shows up as pink/red color where white should be displayed.
