Question about Dell Inspiron 1150 Notebook
We have a Dell Inspiron 1150. The laptop will turn on and boot up to the log-in screen. We type in our password and says "loading your personal settings." Then it immediately says "logging off" and takes us back to the log-in screen. We know our passwords are correct. It would be nice for the computer to work again, but more than that, we'd like to get pictures and other documents off the hard drive. Any suggestions?
Try safe mode. If it works, use system restore to go back to a previous working configuration. If safe mode does not work, try the last known-good configuration. Restart the computer, then as soon as the Dell logo shows up on the screen, press the F8 key repeatedly until you enter the Advanced Options Menu. Use the arrow keys to select Last Known-Good Configuration, then press Enter.

heres directions on resetting in safe mode if the battery fails
Hold F8 as the computer boots before the os boots and then select Safe Mode option (not the others) The computer will boot up from here, but there should be an additional "Administrator" account. Log in to this account (There shouldn't be a password, but if there is, try "admin") and navigate to the User account panel in control panel. From there, select your account name, and select the "Remove Password" option
