Hi - I own a Phillips sounbar home theatre which I bought in Australia - now I ammoving countries and want to be able to use it, however if there is a diferent region I will need to either make it multi-region or sell it. Can someone advise if I can in fact make it multi-region?
Have also just purchased a Philips HTS8140 with Philips LCD screen.
Found a result on web as follows:
1.Turn on TV
2.Turn on Sound Bar System.
4.Press 9 9 9 0 (0 being Region Free or place the desired region #)
(a message displaying "region 0",or the region you chose, will appear on the screen.)
5.Switch soundbar off to soundby.
6.Turn player back on and it should be either region free or the region you selected.
So far I have not been able to check with anyother disc exept region 4.

Hi Elizabeth. Not all DVD players are able to be made "multi region". The model numbers of DVD players that are multi region have the same model number as a "home" region player. There is no difference in the appearance of the unit. If it was sold to you by a retailer on the understanding that it could be made a multi region, then I suggest you call them ask ask for the code. Quite often, there is a procedure to follow when converting a DVD player to multi region - along the lines of - place the non region disk in the tray and press buttons X, X and X. I know this doesn't answer your question but I hope it gives you an explanation!
This worked for me (taken from the service manual)
Power on Unit
Then Open / Eject
Then type the following...
9999 followed by *subtitle* followed by the region you want EG: Region 2 would be - 9999 *subtitle* 2
Works perfect for me :)
Wrong region dvd. Look, all manufactures of electronics make the item for sale of a specific region. For example: A Canadian dvd will work on a United States dvd player, because it's basically the same region. But try playing a dvd shipped to Australia, United KIngdom, Japan, etc. Do you see where I'm trying to go at here? If you moved, or baught a pirated dvd (just saying), it may not work. Because different countries, product makers make them differently for THAT specific region. Check your dvd out, where you bought it from. If it was online, check where it came from.
Power up the set and open tray in DVD mode. Press <9999> follow by <X> buttons on the Remote control. where x = numeric 1 to 6 denoting the regions below:
Then show your region on TV 1 = USA 2 = Europe 3 = Asia Pacific 4 = Australia, New Zealand, Latam 5 = Russia, India 6 = China
0 = Code Free
