Question about Akai LCT3701AD 37 in. LCD Television

Open Question

Blurry picture and won't turn on without unplugging/replugging tv.

Hi, My tv was working perfectly before we moved. When we unpacked (original box & packing) the tv wouldn't turn on. Solid red light (would blink off and back on) when I used remote. Same thing with side power switch. When I unplug power cord, wait till red light goes out, then replug power cord the power will come on. (2) Picture is now blurry (image outlines sparkly) with hdmi, air tv, s-video. The background (Akai, etc,. etc are not blurry. Sharp and focused) Are both related to the power supply/bad capacitor(s) problem? Thanks in advance, Charles

SOURCE: Blinking red light

It appears in all cases that the power supply needs to be service. The blinking light might indicate that there are shorted parts or the voltage is low or a combination of both.
The solution at this point would be to get the power supply repair since new boards are not longer being manufactured. In about 95% of the time if the LCD doesn't power up or turns OFF by itself or need to be unplug for some time to make work again; those are the symptoms of a dying or defective power supply.

SOURCE: Red power indicator light is blinking

The flashing light indicates a short circuit inside the power supply circuitry. This type of repair is not a DIY without a multimeter, desoldering iron and hand soldering skills. I repair these power supplies, if you need further info write to jah2mil@hotmail.com

Timer light blinking and tv won't turn on

Not much info to go off of, and the video is a bit blurry. Try unplugging the tv for a minute or two, make sure to leave it unplugged to allow power to dissipate. Then try again. Otherwise I would suspect power supply problem.

Take a second look in the power supply where the power cord goes for bad caps----a few examples:

** TV won't turn on.** No picture or sound. Please Help !

If the red light won't come on it is not getting power.First, try plugging it in to a different outlet,or unplug one of the gadgets you know is working and plug the tv in there. You are simply switching. If you know that there is power coming from the outlet and it still won't come on then you'll have to check the cord;don't go much farther than that without expert help.

Some of my pictures are blurry using a cannon rebel 3. how can i fix this problem?

There are several possible causes for blurry pictures.
1) Camera motion. If everything is blurry, it's most likely because the camera moved while the picture was being taken. Make sure your shutter speed is fast enough if you're handholding the camera (longer lenses require faster shutter speed). Alternatively, put your camera on a stable surface, such as a tripod or a tabletop.
2) Subject motion. If the subject is blurry but the background is sharper, then the subject may have moved while the picture was being taken. Use a faster shutter speed. Raise the ISO if needed. There are limits, of course. If you're trying to photograph a fast-moving object in the dark, you probably won't be able to.
3) Improper focus. If the subject is blurry but something else in the picture is sharp, then the camera probably focused on the wrong object. Move the focus selector to the subject you want in focus. Alternatively, center the viewfinder on the subject, press the shutter button halfway to lock focus, then reframe and shoot.
Without any more specific information as to what and how your pictures are blurry, I'm afraid the above is all I can give you.

When turned on it sort of made a brief "crack" then a slight hum...no picture, and it wouldn't turn off without unplugging. Replugged in and hit "on" the hum returned, no picture , wouldn't turn off again...

upon realizing that no one would give me any suggestions without charging me, I solved the problem by lugging this huge TV out to the dumpster and throwing it in.

Picture is dim and blurry

The screen probably needs to be degaussed, which will require either a degausser or a technician. Try turning the television off, and then unplugging it from the wall outlet. Then replug after 30 seconds and turn it back on. Also, try plugging any cables from a cable or satellite box into another set of in-ports on the back. If the problem persists, the screen needs to be degaussed.
