Washer makes noise during sping cycle,rattling

I had the same problem on January 10th. It actually sounded like something came off or apart on the spinning cycle. I have been looking to see if anyone has had a repair on this type of problem. I was talking to a friend and she said from what she was reading it would be less expensive to just buy a new machine. I don't know if that is true or not, but perhaps, depends on what is wrong. We have the Kenmore Elite HE3t F/L Washer that we bought back in 2002. It was working amazing until just a few weeks ago when during the spin cycle, it started to make a very distinct rattling-type noise. We got Sears to come and have a look and was told it was a problem with the spin basket and the bearings were worn out and total cost of repair was $1300. Not worth repairing then, but our colour is graphite and Kenmore doesn't make these washers in Graphite. I have a kenmore washer doing the same thing. I had a coupling replaced three months ago (recommendation by the repair guy) and then 3 months later it was doing the same thing....noise during spin cycle but no spinning. The repair guy came out again (another 100$ !!!) but this time he said it was probably the transmission and it wouldn't be worth fixing (ie: more than a new washer). It agitates and fills and washes fine. I wish I could fix it cuz I am out of money and my clothes are all dirty!!!!!!!!!! I have a kenmore washer doing the same thing.
