THE CLOCK KEEPS GOING BACK TO 2005 ON MY NEW XBOX 360!
WHILE LOOKING FOR THE LAST SAVED POINT ON MY XBOX 360, WHICH I HAD SENT 4HRS DOING, I FOUND THAT IT JUST WAS NOT THERE TO BE FOUND,I WENT THROUGH ALL OF MY SAVED POINTS TO NO AVAIL, I FINALLY THOUGHT TO CHECK THE CLOCK SETTING ON THE CONSOLE TO DISCOVER THAT IT HAD RESET IT SELF BACK TO 2005, I HAD JUST BOUGHT THE CONSOLE IN NOVEMBER 2008. SO I WAS A BIT CONFUSED TO SAY THE LEAST. AFTER VENTING A BIT FOR AWHILE, AFTER I NOW HAD TO REPEAT MYSELF TO GET BACK TO MY RIGHT PLACEIN THE GAME I RESET THE CLOCK AND JUST SHRUGGED IT OFF, ONLY THE NEXT WEEK IT DID IT AGAIN ONLY THIS TIME I LOST NEARLY 5HRS OF GAME PLAY. I BOUGHT THIS CONSOLE AS NEW IS THIS JUST SOMETHING I SHOULD JUST PUT UP WITH OR IS THIS GOING TO BE THE START OF SOMETHING ALOT WORSE. WE HAVE A ELECTRIC KEY METER AND I THOUGHT THAT MAYBE THIS MIGHT HAVE SOMETHING TO DO WITH IT, ONLY MY LAST XBOX CONSOLE DIDN'T LOSE OR REFUSE TO SAVE ANY PROGRESS THAT I HAD MADE. PLUS THAT SEEMS STUPID WHAT IF YOU UNPLUGGED YOUR CONSOLE EVERY NIGHT WOULD YOU HAVE RESET YOU CLOCK AND DATE EVERY MORNING TOO? ANY HELP WOULD BE GRATEFULY RECIEVED, RACHEL
Re: THE CLOCK KEEPS GOING BACK TO 2005 ON MY NEW XBOX...
I have never heard of this happening, even when the 360 is unplugged it should hold the date. This may mean the internal battery of the motherboard has died, if this is a new console take it back and use your warranty to have it replaced.
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US. click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need. Goodluck!

i share your thoughts..i got three xboxs already!! but for the red ring of death thing..its something to do with the way the console is built..it has a failure rate of upto 14%..i dont think there is a permanant solution except hoping the new replacement console doesnt give the same problem... :(
Your laser/drive have gone bad. I would suggest contacting your local game stores to see if they do console repairs. If not then you would have to buy the drive/laser and install yourself, that or send it in to the dreaded Microsoft.
