start > all programs > accessories > system tools > system restore, restore it to the first point, and though this will erase all your files prior to, it will roll back your computer back to the original settings... also going to computer info, you can reset the settings to the default...

If you have a backup, you can do that, off your hard drive. Otherwise, you will need to get a replacement disk from Toshiba.

a couple of ways to do that 1) if you have the recovery CDs supplied with the PC - then you can use these - put the CD into the drive and when it boots follow the instructions 2) If you have a recovery partition on the laptop - have a read here to see if you have one http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/outFrm.jsp?ofId=AskIris&searchString=recovery+to+factory 3) This link shows you how to use the partition http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/bulletinDetail.jsp?soid=2291088&pf=true basically as the PC boots TAP F8 key - from the menu that appears choose "repair your computer"

Testimonial: "tnx i just remembered it never came with a recovery cd but it did come with toshiba recovery disc creator, might give it a try wen i get some cd's."
Since Toshiba doesn't sells or replaces them the best solutions for you are:
1 - get an Windows XP install disk of the same type as the one on your pc and install with it while using your key - in this case you will gonna find and install all the drivers yourself
2 - just borrow from someone an recovery disk for your laptop; even one for a similar laptop will do, as long it's an Toshiba Satellite A series - some drivers will be missing, install them yourself.

Toshiba laptops usually come with a CD/DVD-ROM for reinstalling drivers or you can boot the computer on it to restore the factory settings.
