Question about Ace Hardware InSinkErator Badger 5, 1/2 HP Garbage Disposal

1 Answer

I have an Insinkerator Badger 5 garbage disposal that is about 4 years old. It has started leaking water from the very bottom right from the electrical connection. Do I need a new unit or is this something I can repair myself?

I have the same problem. Our's is about 3 years old. I called Emerson. They said they cannot help me unless I have the receipt tp prove when I bought it. I called Menards. The Emerson rep was there! He would not talk to me. He said he could not help unless the water ewas leaking out of the pipes??? He said I should call their tech service number which I had ALREADY DONE TO NO AVAILThis Company is terrible for Customer service. My unit is leaking out of where the electrical connerction goes in. The leaking water ruined my vanity floor. Any suggcestions?

Press a piece of chewing gum in the leaking area--and if that doesn't do the trick --which it wont of course Throw the darn thing away--buy a Evolution Elite by Insinklerator--pretty quiet about $200.00 though--worth it..

My Badger 5 InsinkErator garbage disposal leaks out of the seam about midway down the unit. I don't know how old it is as it came with the house I bought 3.5 years ago. Is it something I can fix?

if the inner seal is leaking -- it is best just to go and buy a new garbage disposal and install it.
normally when the seals start to go bad in the units it does start to effect other parts of the disposal,, and it is kinda a domino effect.

Leaking

first check and make sure that the water is not leaking from the hose connection to the dishwasher or the drain fitting itself. If neither of these is the problem and it is definetly leaking from the housing then replace. I recommend the Badger series disposal with a 5 or 7 tear warranty I have installed them for years and never had a single problem.
