Question about Dell Latitude D600 Notebook
I have a Dell Latitude D600 laptop whose USB port is being used to charge the battery in an iPod Shuffle player. The laptop shuts down after about thirty minutes of inactivity. Is there a way to override this automatic shutdown, so I can charge the battery on the iPod for four hours?
Easily done! Right click your desktop and choose Properties. Select the Screen Saver tab and at the bottom choose Power. In the Power Schemes drop down box choose Always On and the PC will never turn off. You might also want to disable or set the time higher for your screen saver.

yes there is, go into control panel>power options and choose how long you want the display and computer to stay on for before going on standby.
Turn of the display> change to four hours
Put the computer to sleep>choose never or select a suitable time for when the computer should sleep
I hope this helps
