Question about Porter Cable Cable No. FC350A Clipped Head Framer

1 Answer

Porter cable nailer excessive air escaping

I have a framing nailer that has constant air coming out of the back of the nailer where the "blow back" would come out.  It does not stop so I lose psi...This is the first day I have used this tool, but it is over a year old.  It sat at a store, but never sold.  I was the first to use it.  I am working in 10 degree weather if that matters.  The tool did work for an hour or so at a very slow pace, three of four nails then 5 minutes then repeat. The tool stopped working after I used it to put 20 nails in straight with no break.

Your head cap actuator is sticking. since machine sat in a store Porter cable head caps have a tendency to stick due to the head self-corroding inside. They have had this problem for years and never addressed it. After you look at parts schematic and understand where certain parts go,Take head off and remove white plastic actuator in head. Remove orings and wipe them with a rag. wipe the grooves with a rag to remove any build up. If head it corroded spray head with liquid wrench, not WD 40. and let sit overnight reinstall orings and use petroleum jelly or a thin grease to lubricate orings and reinstall actuator in head. Reassemble. Use pnuematic oil on a daily basis.

Rebuild porter cable framing nailer

This model suffers from cylinder seal failure (large plastic seal sitting on top of cylinder) and sticking headvalve. Easy to fix however. Remove head and pop out the headvalve . Lube the headvalve orings with white grease and reinstall. Replace the plastic cylinder seal with Ridgid seal #079020001013, same part as porter cable but cost less. Good luck

Can My FC 350 A used 28 degree nails

The manual for your gun specifies 34-degree nails from 2 to 3 1/2 inches long. 28-degree, wire collated nails are a Stanley-Bostitch thing and they only work in their nail guns, they will not work in your nail gun. You need 34-degree, paper-tape collated nails. I know Senco framing nails will work in your gun and I think Duo-fast makes 34-drgree nails but check that before buying them.

Adjust nail depth 350 mag framing nailer

To adjust the depth of the nail on the coil 350, refer to the parts list listed below.

The safety foot, refrence # 430 or part # 904930 has a slot head bolt. Back off the bolt and move the safety foot down or up and retighten. If however the adjustment will not move enough to keep the driver from setting the nail too deep, then suspect that the bumper, refrence # 130 or part # 897337 has failed and is allowing the driver to travel down the cylinder further than normal. Easy fix. Remove the head and pull out the cylinder and driver to change the bumper. Good luck

I have a Porter Cable finish nailer model FN250B. I have air escaping the exhaust deflector cap all the time and the trigger won't repond. I'm not sure if it's jammed or seals are blow. Can you...

The link below will show a parts list for your gun. Leaks from top are usually caused by debris in the gun. Remove the head and examine parts for cracks or worn orings. Replace parts as needed. If all the parts in the head look ok, clean and apply silicone paste lube to orings and other parts that make contact with orings (silicone paste is sold at Lowes in the plumbing department and at swimming pool supplies stores). Usually, cleaning and lubing with silicone will stop leak. Good luck with your repair.

Was trying to reload nails into my FC350A nailer. My hand slipped and the nail pusher slammed forward. Now I can't move the pusher to add more nails. What's wrong...nothing seems broken

Framing guns are a pain in the ****. It's the coil. Sounds like it broke free or jammed. Only solution is to take it apart. Take your time , not to difficult.

sounds like the packing is shot. you need to oil it 2 times a day if its a constant use tool, drain your compressor everyday if its below temps do it twice a day. before removing the packing try putting lots of oil 10 drops into the nailer it might just be **** caught in it but **** can ruin the packing.
