SOURCE: 32" rca picture stretched

Before you fool around with this, it may be under warranty. Check that first. Second, does the picture stretch in both directions or just vertically? If just vertically is it more pronounced at the top?
Thanks,
Dan

SOURCE: my rca sdtv model 27v414t, the picture won't fit

You are describing normal operation. I have a Samsung with the 4:3 screen aspect ratio and deal with the same issues. With a program that is broadcast as HD I have the "letter box" pic. since this is needed to amintain the 16:9 ratio it is formatted in. Some programs come up as only filling part of the screen & at times I find the zoom mode less objectional to view. Even if you have a wide screen set you still deal with programs that are not in the 16:9 format. Perhaps eventually all programming will be in a consistent format, but for now we just have to put up with it. The good news is that your TV is not defective.

Try TvRepairKits.com. I just ordered one, I have that same model TV and it is the same problem. I will try to fix it myself as opposed to an expensive service call for repair.

On screen writing over past the left side

Ok, so I'm seeing RCA TV, but you're talking about writing, so I'm wondering if you're using this TV as a monitor?

If that's the case, it could be dependent on the the video card settings.

If not, the input device.

You could possibly have your view mode set to stretch or something like that. Maybe look in the settings on the monitor and see if it'll let you do a factory reset.

Picture alignments made in servive menu.

pwr off + display + 5 + (+vol) + pwr on
You must do all within 1 second.
1&4 move thru settings, 6&3 chg value,
muting & enter saves chgs.

Your code access could differ.

In the menu note down all existing settings.
Make small adjustments and watch what happens if not in right direction reset that particular option to original value before you changed. In those menus you can bend, shift hor. and vert., etc.
But be warned only slight adjustments and write down start values before experimenting. Or you can get in to serious trouble.

Good secret service menues keep an access counter for manufacturer/dealer to see how many times it was used.

Screen adjustments??

On the remote, if you use the right and left keys on the pad with the OK sign in the middle, it will adjust the screen to several sizes including Cinema, 16:9, 4:3, Zoom, etc. I, personally, use 16:9 because I, like you, need to see the ticker symbols at the bottom. I hope this helps.

Rca 52 inch keeps shutting off and picture is curved

The curved picture indicates failing parts in the pin amp section and probably some faulty parts in the scan amplifier sections. The set is being turned off by the uPC because there is a fault indicated, and it is going in to protect mode.

The set will have to be properly serviced.
