Question about Car Speakers & Subwoofers

1 Answer

Subwoofer problems I have a Blaupunkt THb 210A subwoofer. I installed it in my honda. Worked fine. Recently it doesn't produce normal bass sounds and it pulses strongly at 5 second intervals whenever power is applied to it. Even if the music is off, it pulses.

Check your power or ground cable. this normally happens because it is not getting enough power

How do I install a head unit to myppioneer htp 200-sweat subwoofer

So you are trying to install a car head unit on a home stereo subwoofer? If so it's going to get really complicated. You will need a power source to convert 120V ac current to 12V dc current, if you wish to use it outside a vehicle and you will likely need to add component speakers to produce the mids and highs. not to mention that a subwoofer if not already powered will need an amplifier. However, if you are talking about a head unit in terms of like a head for a bass cabinet or trying to install an amplifier onto/into your subwoofer all you need to do is look up a home stereo subwoofer amplifier and hook them up. there are external types that are independent units, and there are built in types that can be mounted onto the cabinet itself. you can find plenty of options of these on the web or on partsexpress.com.

Whats the difference between a speaker and a subwoofer

a sbwoofer is ment for producing bass by playing low frequency notes at an amplified power. subs move air vibrating off of your trunk and creating bass. a speakeris ment to produse high and midbass frequencies. thus having a tewwter and a small woffer cone. trying to get bss out of a door speaker usually results in very bad distortion which will actually blow a speaker very easy

I recently bought two of these subs and the box they were in has cracked at the bottom whats the proper size box and should I get a bigger vented port box because they seem not to be producing the amount...

Ensure the audio system is capable of delivering output power required by the subwoofer, obviously bigger vented box will result in greater air flow and produce better bass, but it should not be to big. you can try for boxes with more depth.
To enhance the bass you can try connecting a capacitor of 470 - 2200 micro farad across (parallel) the speakers. try out with smaller capacity capacitors first

Subwoofer Help

check the amp. the "switches" gain, bass boost...etc they might be over powering your subs and heating them up. if those are fine then you mite want to try your subs on another amp...it migt just be that the subs are easily over heating.

Subwoofer pushing out problem

it sounds like one channel in your amp had shorted and letting dc go to the speaker...a speaker is an electromagnet and requires ac to make it pulse..the amp has a blown channel and would have to be repaired and a factory service center...there is no quick fix..

Subwoofer moving wrong way possibly causing damage!

Hey i'm no expert either but maybe just maybe your amp has a subsonic filter on it which cuts out the lowlow bass maybe check that and either disengage it or turn it all the way down if it even has one thats all i can think of unless you have a ported box and going below the boxes tuning frequency other than that im as stumped as you are-good luck with it
