What if you map out your destination across southern Nevada by city then north to Minnesota. Create one, two or several city destinations in the GPS favorites. As you get to each city you will hafta put in the next city. Unlike mapquest you can't add another city (destination)and unlike yahoomaps.com you cant slide the route to change it. does this help? tinkr

For Garmin. Enter your final destination and select go. Select again "where to" and select new destination on route. Option of "New destination or add as via point" will be shown. Select as add as via point. Repeat as many time you want. Works only when "go" was selected - can not be pre programmed and saved for later use.
if you enter a destination, you should then be able to go to settings, click on settings and go to favorites, then you should be able to select add and then you can pick from destinations you have previously entered, you should then even be able to give it a name
Turn GPS on. Press "Navigate to" and then select " Recent Destination" All the routes you programmed before will be displayed. You can tap the "DELETE" button. However, be informed that it will delete all the old routes. Only the Home address will remain.
There are settings in the GPS that allow you to pick what type of routes you want to have the unit pick for you. They can be based on time, distance, or least fuel used. You can also do the following: if you know at least part of the route to your destination, and the GPS doesn't pick the particular way you prefer you can just start driving off route. The GPS will realize that you are off route and it will recalculate itself. You can also add "Way Points" to your route that would force the GPS to calculate the route to the way you want it to go.
After you program your destination using 'Navigate to...', you can specify your specific instructions by using 'Find alternative' -> 'Travel via' and/or 'Avoid part of the route' until the generated route largely satisfy your requirements. then finally, 'Calculate alternative' Hope it helps: let me know how you go.
In general, once you key in an address and then select a route, the name/route will be saved in "recent destinations." If you want to use that destination, just select it. If you want to add it to "Favorites", then select "Add Favorite" and all your recent destinations will appear. Select the one you want and rename it: E.g., instead of "220 W. Walnut St." rename it "Grandma's House" and it is set.
