Question about Sony VAIO PCG-K33 Notebook
I have a Sony PCG-K33 Vaio Laptop I tried to start it up and it went as far as showing the sony logo and then it stops completely. I installed a new Hard Drive and it will not recognize the drive or let me format the drive. I go to setup and it tells me there is no hard drive in stalled. I use my origional Windows disc and it goes so far and then stops telling me there is no HDD one the primary IDE. I do not know if this is a motherboard problem or just something that windows my be able to repair with a generic driver. Any help would be of great assistance, as I am about ready to turn it into a Sony boat anchor..
With the old drive in the computer you should be able to do a recovery with the disks furnished with the computer when you got it.
What you have to do with the new disk installed is go into the BIOS and set the disk to AUTO, then srrow net to Boot and set the boot priority to CD as first boot. Then hit F10 or go toe EXIT and say YES. Then with your Windows disk in the ROM drive start the computer and when the window asks whether to BOOT from disk or CD ROM, hit any key and follow the instructions. Including format the disk when it asks.
Hope this helps. Bud
