How to change to screen size on control what button

Hello, on the Sony remote in the darker gray area is the "wide" button (second row, second button), press it until your set is in the "full" mode. If your screen is still not filled out, it may be the cable box or satellite receiver that needs to be set. With the tv in "full" mode, then set your cable box or satellite receiver to the proper screen setting by using the "format" button on your cable box or satellite receiver remote. 80c70867-1f89-4715-95f8-6e187b94054c.jpg

Hello:
If this television has not been service recently, then it just might be in the wrong viewing format. It may be that the Zoom feature has been activated, if you are using cable check the remote for a format or screen size button on it. Also check the remote that came with the televisio for the same buttons in may be labeled Aspect on the remotes also..

Picture problem

I have an older Mitsibutishi 52" HD 1080. I recently upgraded my cable box to DirecTV HDTV. When I change to format to view in 1080 the TV goes from full screen to what seems to be wide screen with a black bar on the top and bottom. If I change the format to 480p I get a full screen; but the picture has a "redish tint" over it as if looking through sunglasses...I tried everything in my TV manual even call the cable company. Any suggestions?

New Samsung 1080p TV not displaying Full 1080 from PS3 Blu Ray movies

Hi hsaucier,

Although you have a wide-screen television, it is possible the video you are viewing was recorded in an even wider format. The bars should be smaller than if you were viewing the same DVD on a TV with a 4:3 aspect ratio, but will likely not disappear unless you view the DVD at a zoom setting. Many movies are shown in theaters at a wider ratio than 16:9, and the Blu-Ray disc has probably retained the entire picture rather than cropping it to fit your screen.

I recommend trying different viewing options that zoom in slightly. Be aware that this may cut off part of the picture from the left and right sides, but depending on your personal preference, you may not notice anything missing.

Thank you,

I have a T5054 TV and the picture has zoomed in and is way too big, however in the picture settings menu the zoom option is not highlighted in Component mode.

There could be a problem, but verify the settings as listed in the owner's manual as follows:

1 Press the MENU button to display the menu.
Press the ▲ or ▼ button to select Picture, then press the ENTER button.
2 Press the ▲ or ▼ button to select Size, then press the ENTER button.
3 Press the ▲ or ▼ button to select the screen format you want.
Press the ENTER button.
Press the EXIT button to exit.
16:9 : Sets the picture to 16:9 wide mode.
Zoom1 : Magnifies the size of the picture on the screen.
Zoom2 : Expands the Zoom1 format picture.
Wide Fit : Enlarges the aspect ratio of the picture to fit the entire screen.
4:3 : Sets the picture to 4:3 normal mode.
Just Scan : Use this function to see the full image without any cutoff when DTV
or HDMI 720p/1080i signals are input.
Press the P.SIZE button on the remote control to change the picture size.

And realize the restrictions as listed:

• In TV, VIDEO, S-VIDEO, and COMPONENT(480i, 480p) modes, all screen
modes can be selected. (16:9 ➞ Zoom1 ➞ Zoom2 ➞ 4:3)
• In COMPONENT(720p, 1080i) or HDMI(720p, 1080i) mode, 16:9, 4:3 and
Wide Fit can be selected.
• In Zoom1, Zoom2 and Wide Fit modes, you can move the picture on the
screen by pressing the ▲ or ▼ button.
•You can not change the picture size when PIP is set to Double.
•When Double ( , ) mode has been set in PIP, the Picture Size cannot
be set.
•Wide Fit can be used when watching a Digital HD (High Definition) signal.
Wide Fit sets the optimum picture format by expanding it both horizontally and
vertically. For example, you can reset the picture in 4:3 format to 16:9. Wide Fit
does not support all external devices (DVD, VCR etc.).
