Question about Frigidaire GLTF2940E Gallery 3.5 Cu. Ft. King Size Front Loading Washer

I have a Frigidaire washer Model # FWT445GES1 with broken timer

The timer know has broken for the second time. Before I had it replaced but the cost of the service was almost enough to replace the washer. Is there some trick to replacing this knob that would prevent me from doing it and if not what tools will I need? Also, is there anything I need to be especially aware of when I start?

SOURCE: How do you remove the knob off the Timer?

On my Amana LW8303W2, I had to hold the back of the know assembly to prevent the metal post from moving and rotate the knob itself counter clockwise until it came off. This may take longer than expected due to the post rotating which is difficult to detect.

needlenose pliers grabbing the center shaft (white plastic around a brass center around a screw), turned counterclockwise will free the remainder of the broken knob and allow you to remove it and then screw on the new part.

SOURCE: Removal of the timer knob.

you have two different knobs to replace? it the water level knob or the timer knob?
if its the timer knob you need to remove, look underneath the timer and you will find a black plastic pin depressed at the middle. pull it slowly for about 1/4 of an inch.

then you can remove the knob in the front of the timer switch.

in putting it back, install the knob first in the timer and then depressed that black plastic pin to lock the knob.

be carefull not to pull the plastic pin all the way out. it would be very hard to put it back in.

So I tried turning the washer on this morning and the washer would turn on for a second and then turn off. do you think the timer is going out?

Ur right about that! Timer mechanism is about to get BUSTED! Inside that timer there are contact points were a rotary point hit one and makes the motor and solenoid to activate in a certain time! Better look for a PART for that and replace it! Hope that make you one TECH minded person to know that problem! taaah!

Timer gets stuck on frigidaire front load washer

It appears that your timer is failing. The process to remove and replace the faulty timer is relatively easy to do with just some simple hand tools.

You should unplug the washer from the wall outlet before taking the top backsplash (control panel) apart. There are screws on the backside of the control panel, that you need to remove the back panel. Doing this will let you get to the wiring plug connector on the timer motor.

You'll also need to remove the timer/cycle knob on the front of the panel so you can use a socket (or a adjustable wrench) to remove the mounting nut and lock washer that holds the timer to the metal panel.

Once you have everything loose and accessible, all you need to do is unplug the connectors on the old timer and out them on the new timer and reinstall the lock nut and washer and button up the panel.

That shoud be all that's needed to get things working again.

Here's link showing a drawing of your washer along wtih the parts list (and prices) for parts.

The timer is part #134378400 and costs about $89.00

Hope you find this Very Helpful and best regards!

FWT445GES1 Washer makes loud banging noises like it's going to explode.

Washer- you need a complete tub and bearring kit. this is a common problem for people who have well water. (also just happens) the rear yoke has become corroded and broken. its a costly repair.

dryer - you would need a new front slider seal. very simple to install.

My Frigidaire model FWT445GES1, was making noses like the drum was coming off. it nocking and is loss when you grab it. How do I fix this? thanks

I had the same problem (9 year old washer). It was a broken support spider for the drum. It had corroded nearly through, so it was ready to break. Had to buy an assembly that included the drum. Cost about $265. The tub assembly has to be removed and split to remove the drum assembly. I found out that the door boot has to be reinstalled with the tub assembly out and the counterweights in the front removed. My door boot was glued to the front panel. Had to cut it loose with a razor blade. If the problem should be the bearings, the repair procedure will be the same.

Front load washder does not go through with cylce

hello nplooj

You said, front load washer would not continue through the cycle. For example, when I turn on the wash cycle, it will stay at that position and does not go to the next cycle. Every time I want the machine to move from one cycle to the next I have to do it manually such as from wash cycle to rinse cycle. The dial won't not turn unless I turn it manually. Please give me a suggestion of what part of the machine is not working properly. Per my understand and my friend told me, it is probably the time is not working. If that is the problem, can I replace the timer myself and how much it cost for the replacement part.

You do have an ATF6000 front load washer? This is made by Frigidaire or Electrolux

Frigidaire clothes washer model #FWT445GES1. The door wont stay shut, it pops open. The unit wont turn on even when I hold the door shut

I was having this problem. I thought the door catch was damaged but looked it up online and saw that it was intact. I was just about to call the repairman when I took another look and found that the rubber seal around the door was not properly seated. Duh! Almost cost me $100+ and lots of humiliation.

Timer is not working

Mom, it sounds like a timer issue, not advancing. If your model number ends in RFS0, your part number would be 131436800. Cost of the timer is around 90.00. This is not a hard repair. back.
